  1. Stick your details into Moneysupermarket.com. Depending on your personal circumstances, you might be surprised how competitive some of the mainstream names can be, particularly for new business.
  2. Given the apparent likelihood of another general election, and Macron's success in France from a standing start, I'm thinking of starting a new political party with the slogan: "Free stuff for everyone, we'll just print the money!" What do you think, brilliant or what? (Sorry for deviation. )
  3. You'll have to read the cancellation terms and conditions fully to see if you've got grounds for complaint. As I understand it, insurance companies often clobber policy holders with a big administration fee for cancelling a policy, precisely to stop them taking out annual policies for short-term cover and then cancelling them after a short time. From their point of view, it's the same amount and cost of administration work, irrespective of whether the policy is in place for a week or a year. When I sold my 987 there was two months left to run on the policy and my annual premium had been just £170. As you are not allowed to have an insurance policy on a car you don't own, I thought I'd better call the company to cancel. The thanked me for letting them know, then tried to charge me for the excess of the cancellation fee over the value of the remaining insurance premium! You can imagine my reply, so we agreed to call it quits. The reason I hadn't simply transferred the existing insurance policy to my new car for the remaining two months was that their quote for doing so was astronomical, more than the full-year premium I paid elsewhere, as a new customer of course.
  4. Depends on what they mean by "done". They might have just passed it to their finance department for payment. In my experience, companies are usually rather slower at processing refunds than they are when charging you! I'd give it five working days and, if it hasn't appeared by then, chase it up. Unless you're up against your credit limit or the delay straddles a credit card statement date, it makes no odds.
  5. 981 clear wind deflector MK2

Yep, and you're right: it doesn't bother me.
  6. 981 clear wind deflector MK2

Just one minor issue I should have mentioned: in strong sunlight with the roof down, I can now see a perfect reflection of my gear selector in my rear view mirror via the glass wind deflector!

Aah...fair enough, not just me being thick then!

Eh? No idea what you mean... Taxi to the home for the hard of thinking for Daniel...😨

I recently installed a glass wind deflector in place of the mesh item. There might be a slight increase in wind noise, but nothing troublesome and no noticable buffeting. No rattles either. There is a small cutout at the base of the glass, as you can see in the photo below. I wonder if this is designed to allow some air through, to prevent, or at least minimise, the effects described by @Greenman above?

That's certainly a good deal. I take it you were a new customer for that quote. I'm impressed that my renewal quote is a very reasonable 6% increase over last year and I wouldn't bother to shop around in such circumstances.

Just got my renewal quote from Saga for the Boxster: £257 for full comprehensive, SDP use only, maximum NCD, 5k miles limited, locked garage when not in use. That's a £16 increase over last year. In line with the new regulations, Saga has quoted last year's premium in the renewal letter. I'll live with that. (Apologies from a rural wrinkly to you young urbanites, don't mean to rub your nose in it.)
  12. Adrian Flux - Avoid!

I had a similar experience with More Than last year when I sold the F-Type convertible after two months and bought my 981. The premium for the Jaguar was around £230. The quote to change to the Boxster for the remaining ten months was an ADDITIONAL £380!!! Needless to remark, I cancelled the policy and took the hit, then insured the Boxster with Saga for £230. Their business model seems to be something along the lines of "Lure 'em in with cheap quotes for new customers, then gouge their eyes out once you've got 'em." Nice...😬

Thanks, Eddie, I'm looking forward to getting it tomorrow. We can compare on the 30th. ☺ I'd really like to find a small "P O R S C H E" logo for it, similar to the one on base of the rear window of my 987, either black or translucent grey. Took a look on fleabay, but no joy. Any ideas?

Very nice job, Eddie. You could go into business offering to convert mesh wind deflectors to perspex. 👍 I solved the same problem for myself yesterday by expertly prising apart my PayPal account and carefully extracting a sum of money for @JohnSyn. 😆

    Prime of life, then 😊
