Guvs
Not sure where to post this ? here or on How to, cover both bases I’ll do both.I did this to the Boxster todayyou can just see the little white washer/spacer on the locking bar where it should be, tight up against the body work but in this photoyou can see where it ends up after a while and that what makes it awkward to get the removing tool in first time, as the rod isn’t held in the center of the bodywork hole that’s why I said you sometimes have to go at an angel to connect with the light unit locking rod, there is a grove around the rod.all I can think it’s for is a split washer or something like that to stop the spacer/washer from moving out of the body work, so as you can see in this photo. I got a piece of copper electrical wire and wrapped it around the rod in the grove and it works perfect now, look back at the first photo and you’ll just see the copper wire acting as a split washer, I tested it 5 times and it was easy to do each time, remembering to make sure you turn the rod back half a click that makes sure the bend in the rod is at its lowest point for returning the light back into its slides. The reason I'm posting this as someone was having a hard time with their head light removal.Guvs.
KPE
Thanks Guvs. That was me with the problems. So the copper wire keeps the white washer inserted into the plastic hole?
Guest twinspark
I had issues doing my lights - turned out it was because the tool in the toolkit had rounded off.All done with no problems when I found that a 5mm allen socket fits. Guvs
Thanks Guvs. That was me with the problems. So the copper wire keeps the white washer inserted into the plastic hole?Yep keeps it central and helps when you put the tool in, next time someone removes their head lights it will be interesting to see if you have a spring washer type thing around the rod in that grove.Guvs.
Guvs
Hi Duffy put this in as well will you please I always forget what way to turn the socket/tool and thought one day I was going to force it the wrong way and brake it, sorted now lol. I know I could of done it a bit neater and it may look upside down, but it's the right way when your leaning over the wing looking in.
