  1. I thought you could code this in PIWIS\Durametric? 🤔

    987.1 key upgrade

@Simon. Where did you find 'Matt" from? Slightly dubious about sending someone a key to my car, and a postal address for obvious reasons.... Is your car still in your posession? 🤐
  3. Might want to keep some liquidity for a while, for other expenses, and just continue paying the monthly payment on the car until things become more clear. Best of luck, I've dodged a bullet a few times now. Not nice at all.
  4. Isn't this method a bit odd - presumably the driver is the risk, not a given vehicle, and therefore NCB should in theory be mirrored?
  5. Holy cr*p thats double the price of my car insurance.
  6. I forgot about mine a few years ago. A previous early service\mot had brought the date forward a month and caught me out. Easily done. Yes I had been driving about for a few weeks, and no, never got pulled. The only time I've ever let this happen!
  7. Turns out there is no qualifiying criteria so I'm all good. Apparently there are people joining who don't even have driving licenses but get an allowance - the existence of a car is completely immaterial. Happy days. Looks like I have my Boxster maintenance fund then. Must be time to call Russ about those coolant crossover pipes....
  8. Lots of good advice, thanks. I guess it comes down to how strictly T&Cs are enforced. I've heard stories of people having to submit V5, MOT and insurance documentation to maintain the benefit - until I have line of site of that process, I won't know what the options are. I'm always up for keeping my head down and keeping quiet on such matters if I can get away with it...within the context of performing at a high standard of course. We shall see....
  9. It wouldn't put me in a higher bracket - even if it did - 50%+NI of 8K is better than 0% of 8K. I need to find out if it's acceptable to use my existing car and take it from there. My concern is to get it, I'd need a qualifying car. If I do, perhaps man-maths can kick in and justify some new pork :).
  10. Yes, I was going to, but presumably, you need to have a qualifying car to take the cash - which I may not....
  11. The business I'm working for is going through an M&A, and I'm joining a larger company on Dec 1st. Just negotiating terms at the moment, and they're offering as standard, an 8K PA car allowance to my job level. I don't have a car allowance at present. Now, I'm yet to receive the T&Cs of this, but from past experience (other job offers I've had), there is usually a stipulation that the car you use is under 3, or 5 yrs old. My 987 (that I have no intention of changing at this point) is 12yrs old. I don't need another car, so was going to take the allowance as cash. Has anyone been through this - and what did you do? Did you 'upgrade' to a newer car, or take another route?
  12. You can also run PET on a XP laptop which provides VIN lookup Just make sure you patch it
  13. A-Plan phone me every year, and can never match. They've tried for the last 8 years. Renewed with Elephant yesterday, £330. Renewal price was originally quoted at £449!
  14. Thanks guys - interesting point Stu. I'll look at that route, if we have difficulties with the insurance co. On that, is it normal to persue uninsured lossed (car hire, excess etc) through legal channels, in addition to the insurance claim? In the mean time - I'll update the insurance details for the Box . It was my wife's car that was hit. Driver had been drinking (but blew under), and admitted to 2xPCs to searching for a phone when the accident happened .
  15. What would you expect to be the outcome; Move house 2 weeks ago, don't update insurance policy to reflect move. Car is parked on street overnight, and is hit by someone not paying due care and attention. 99.9% certain car will be a write-off. Third-party completely at fault, and will take liability. Update policy to reflect move next day, and then report the incident. Will I see a penny? (Wasn't the Pork BTW).
  16. Cheers guys, good advice. I like the savings account idea too. Should be enough for a new GT3 on retirement day .
  17. Yes, allowance is in cash. I wondered if mandating a policy is normal practice, or if I can just ignore it.
  18. Here's a new question; I've been offered a new job. Package includes a car allowance, but there is unlikley to be any need to travel (occasional trip to the smoke, but this can be done on the train). Office is a 10min drive from house along country lanes. Company mandate that you must have a car <5yrs old, non-2door. Clearly concerned about their image. My Boxster meets none of these criteria, but is very well cared for and probably looks smarter than most 3 year old cars out there. Question is, I won't be getting rid of the Bosxter, and I don't really want to buy a second car just for this purpose, it's a complete waste of time, and money. Can a company mandate these terms? I'm tempted just to ignore the policy and rock up in the Boxster each day. Any sage advice out there?
  19. Who was that with? Chaucer? Mine is up this month, and for the first time ever, A-Plan are a consideration.
  20. Yourself as named, Mrs as additional is the way forward - EVERYONE does it!
  21. I'd speak with CCI. Every time I get a cr*p renewal quote in the post from my insurer (Elephant), they back down significantly when I speak with them on the phone. I'm moving from a C rated postcode, to an A rated postcode this weekend, so the next price better had be an improvement!!
  22. I'm ten years older, with 9 years NCB and I pay more than that!
  23. Back-to-back PDK\Manual Gen 2 drives at the weekend. Definitely another manual next :).
