Insurance (Not renewing with current insurer)

Recommended Posts

My insurer for the past 5 years have priced themselves out of my budget, so I'm shopping around. Clean licence, mature driver, max NCD , Garaged, Low miles per annum, No Tracker. I've read all the helpful posts about some good quotes many of you have been able to get.

I've had quotes from More-than, AA, Adrian Flux, E-Sure and some others that I've discarded. Range from £400 to £550 and even that is £200 less than my current insurer! I know that cheapest may not be best so open to signing up anywhere within the above range.

Big question? In the event of an accident, which of these companies (or perhaps suggest another insurer) will provide a recovery to a Porsche garage and allow work to be carried out by Porsche workshop or specialist? AND what sort of temporary car arrangment might I expect from a good insurer?. I'll also be checking their feedback for reports of poor customer service at times of stress!!!

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I was in the same situation, mine was up for renewal yesterday. Same situation as yourself, but up to 11000 miles/year.

I went with LV, not only were they the cheapest, they had a good review in the Auto Express insurance ratings the other week.

WoW!

Just had a quote and not only cheapest, but company IS established and DOES have history. Seems they do try it on at renewal, BUT these days its up to us to be wise and not accept the first renewal offer. I'm adding LV to my shortlist. Thanks again for that heads-up!

I'm with Swift. On-line only, and cheaper than any other I could come up with.

It seems that we often have to switch each time. Like you guys I went with LV and then at re-newal they priced themselves out of the market. It's as though these days they get brownie points for new customers and are not interested in keeping their existing ones

I think the truth is that, like many businesses, they rely on inertia and customer inaction to keep business at inflated rates.

Usually it pays to shop around each year - in Jan my renewal with Peart was the only time I can remember that a renewal was remotely competitive. But not enough - I eventually went with Adrian Flux as a new customer.

I tried everyone - all the specialist brokers eg A-Plan, LV, etc etc and all the major companies. Adrian Flux was the cheapest! As my 550 has all the goodies as standard I didn't have to declare other factory fitted options like you do for MoreThan, DirectLine etc etc

My tack is also never to accept the renewal quote as given - I usually ring them up after looking around and say that so-and-so have qouted a lower premium and ask them to match it - they usually do try to match it!

That's good advice. This time round I got my insurer (Performance Marque) to drop their initial renewal price by £200 by telling them I had better quotes.

We are with Adrian Flux for just about everything Personnel wise!

They do adjust the renewal price but only after you come back with a better price....

Just seems loyalty counts for nothing now.........

The recently Electricity lark has smashed my rose tinted glasses!

Cheers

I'm with Swift - just like Araf.

Found them online after More Than( others!) quoted me £650 this year which is £200 more than last year. I phoned them and asked why the huge increase? Silence from them but I know the real reason is to pay for all the damage caused to their clients cars who have decided to live on river banks in the Midlands!!

So, I told them to send me my proof of No Claims Discount Certificate.

Sheilas Wheels are a joke at £825.

Swift is £375 for hubby and me and a further £60 to protect the NCD. So at £425 they get my money.

I'm with Elephant. Happy with the price, but then I've never had to make a claim...

I have been with Endsleigh for over a year. For some strange reason the renewal price was nearly identical to the price quoted when first moving over to them.

I'm paying about £100 less. You must live in a rough area. ;)

Is that 3rd party fire and theft? ;)

It never ceases to amaze me that the renewals hit the doormat with increases in the region of 30 to 40%, is the first year a loss leader?
