The mod is really easy to do and it will only cost you about £6 in Perspex.

BTW I don't think you need a vent in the bottom. I didn't get chance to check Dan's one when we got together a couple of weeks ago but I suspect that the gap is something to do with it being glass. The Perspex one from the States doesn't have a gap and if you put your hand in front of it at speed the wind pressure is pretty low.

he's referring to DJMC who was/is a member who liked taking Porsche (and all else) to court/complaining about wheels/tyres etc etc

I didnt put the @ sign in front in case he appeared like Beetlejuice!

I recently installed a glass wind deflector in place of the mesh item.  There might be a slight increase in wind noise, but nothing troublesome and no noticable buffeting.  No rattles either.  There is a small cutout at the base of the glass, as you can see in the photo below.  I wonder if this is designed to allow some air through, to prevent, or at least minimise, the effects described by @Greenman above?

Just one minor issue I should have mentioned: in strong sunlight with the roof down,  I can now see a perfect reflection of my gear selector in my rear view mirror via the glass wind deflector!

The silver surround you mean?

Yes I have that but you get used to it after a short while...

Yes I noticed that immediately I fitted my Perspex one but as Stuart says the brain seems to filter it out pretty quickly.

Hi Jimmy. Photobucket now charge for 3rd party hosting and so all the links no longer work. I will fish out the images and host them on a better site and then post the links here.

Simply prise apart

This is what you now have

Lift away the mesh and use the frame as a template

Use a fine toothed jigsaw to cut the 2mm Perspex

And you should have this

Check the fit

Press the two halves of the frame together and you will have this

Need one of these !

But not sure I even have a jig saw in the shed !

Would beer tokens provide me with a template ?

Also anyone had issues with the auto dimming mirrors and a clear deflector ?

I really strugged for quite some time to work this one out but finally cracked it. See not as daft as I look.
