Where Does Your 986 Rank in Your All Time Cars Owned List

Recommended Posts

I converted all mine to manual.

I had a GPvR a GPX and lastly a GR.  I broke the GPX the others were not standard either as I like to play and a lot of the Evo parts fitted.

It was a great owners club back then too.

Ah yes, a GPX.  That's what mine was.  My mate drove mine and loved it so much he went out and bought a silver one too except his one was modded everywhere.  Lowered like a wedge of cheese, fat boy exhaust etc.  FTO OC - wonder if it's still going.

I saw an FTO on a driveway near me a couple of years ago and was so tempted to go back and try and get one but I know it won't be the same.  I took mine all the way to Le Mans one year and had an absolute blast on the way there and back.

Spooky this appeared in my anniversary picture thing on Faceballs today:

It's a bit blurred as phone cameras weren't what they are now ,and was taken through steering wheel (displaying approx 162)

Took the GR to Le Mans a couple of years - here's a Porsche related mod I did (928 rear calipers and larger Evo discs and alloys)

I'd share a pic of the pair of silver FTOs but sadly this was an era just before mainstream digicams and subsequently smartphones ;)  (Y2K or there abouts.)

The Boxster is definitely number one so far. Took it out yesterday morning to stretch the legs a little and with the weather being quite nice the roof obviously had to go down :) Seriously fun to drive, nothing over the speed limit but such a responsive little car and an absolutely sublime drive. My daily is an Alfa 147 and that is also a great car but the Boxster is just something else.

I've owned (in this order) since I started driving;

1) A 1980 or '81(?) Mini 1275E (total shyate)

2) 1975 VW Beetle - great car but not very fast or particularly pleasant to drive. Reliable though. Had that for almost 9 years and spent nothing on maintenance in 125,000 km

3) 1984 VW Jetta GLS - really good car. Gave that to a friend a year later when I came into some cash

4) 1988 VW Jetta CLX - nice enough

5) Peugeot 205 - bought for £100 and got £500 as a trade in a year later

6) Fiat Stilo (meh)

7) Fiat Sedici - so so

8). Seat Exeo (company car - really nice)

9) Kia C'eed (company car - really cr*p)

10) Nissan Qashqai +2 (great car)

11) Current - 2008 Alfa 147 1.9 JTDm Sport Q2 (fabulous car)

12) Current - 998 Boxster 2.5 (Fantastic car)

13) Current- 2002 Ford Maverick XLT 2.0 (bought to go diving with)

14) Next car? Porsche 911?

Don’t you need a Lotus Esprit for that?

Ha ha yes, good one :)

Also, I neglected to add the Alfa Spider 916 2.0 Twinspark but that was actually Mrs Redbare's. Great little car though.
