A rattle....

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

A quick question if anyone could assist please..... 😉

How do I stop the clip/hook (in the middle of the photo) under the clamshell from rattling? It always has and although I can live with it I would prefer to stop it !

That's the operating arm for the microswitch that senses when the roof is closed (part of the alarm circuit IIRC). You have an early car with the plastic screen, when I replaced mine with the later glass window roof I removed the switch and linked the wires as the later car doesn't have it.

Doesn't help with your problem though, unless you choose to remove it altogether.

Its loose fitting on on 'bolt' or whatever you want to call it.

If you put your finger on it you can just rattle it about, if that makes sense. Its no problem really but if it was an easy fix I would sort it 🙂

Yeah.... :)

Mine seems pretty solid, with no side to side movement when you try and wiggle the arm just a click from the microswitch when you push it down.

I'm guessing there is alot of play on yours.?

Saying that are you sure it's actually this that's causing the noise and not the wind deflector or maybe the clamshell.?

Yes mate, I am sure its because of the play.

Thanks for having a look, I can live with it 🙂
