Help..!! Wheel nuts for 987 needed

Recommended Posts

I’m a newbie to the boxster game and I’m loving my (new to me) 987.

However, I’ve taken my wheels to be refurbed and they’ve told me that my nuts are rotten..(excuse the pun)! I need to get a complete set including locking nuts.

Any recommendations.

Thanks in advance👊🏾

Thy are about 7£ each various Porsche specialists sell them. Check with the OPC first they might be reasonably priced sometimes they can be surprisingly competitive.

Actually just checked Design 911 and they are £3.75 reduced!     https://www.design911.com/Porsche/Boxster-986-987-981/Boxster-S-981-34L-2012--/Wheel-Bolts/pt179_434_-cma81-cmo82-ct1741/

The Techworlddirect ones on eBay are fine. Correct floating collars etc.

It will be the collars that have corroded. Design 911's price looks good as above. Could also try Frazerpart and do a Google search for 987 wheel bolts - lots of options including full sets.

Don’t bother with locking wheel nuts - more hassle than they are worth.

I had some of these for my 987.1, they are very shiny!

I put a new set of black OEM Porsche bolts on my current car.

It's the collars that corrode and fail - the bolts are always fine. Is there any way of just replacing the collars?

The collars are crimped on, you would need the use of a Lathe if doing this yourself. I did mine last year

Even doing the collars DIY for at seem to make much sense when you can get a full set for quite cheap. I can't imagine you would save much if anything sourcing and buying the collars as separate items.

So cheap, are these trustworthy?

As above I've been using the Techworlddirect ones since 2013. At that time nobody else on the forum seemed to have tried them.

The wheel bolts I use also from the same vendor are only £ 1.50 each and good quality made by Bimecc
