  1. They can suspect you may be hiding something, but all claims are recorded in the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE) anyway, so its easy to check if I have had a claim, all they are doing when asking you to declare is seeing if you are honest and providing them with a get out if you're not. In todays data age we shouldn't need to keep inputting already known data they should be able to access it and present it as fact to the person requiring a quote. Would certainly save typing the same stuff time and time again. Lesson learnt though, next time I try scenarios I'll use a duff name and reg.
  2. Around the end of Feb I was told having a windscreen claim affected your insurance, having come from the time where glass claims were never asked about or mentioned I though I'd check, so went onto Compare the Meercat and did a quote with and without a windscreen claim. Finding out the difference was a massive £10. Not to bad and lesson learnt. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, my renewal came through from Aviva, £3 more than last year, happy with the price I just renewed. Today I got an email from the saying "Do you want to check your details? We've noticed you declared a claim on a quote back in Feb...." Amazing how linked everything is and how it might bite you if you do come to claim. Makes me wonder if I'm now marked in the system as a higher risk as I "might" have a claim I'm not declaring, even though I don't and was just looking at price differences
  3. Someone's got to pay for all these expensive EV repairs. I'm in the lucky pack it seems, my Boxster insurance has only gone up £3 from last years price.

    Interesting watch, thanks 👍
  5. Best time to get the best quote is about 3 weeks (20 to 26 days) before the due date, after that the renewals start to go up, probably due to extra risk being associated with less organised people. Doesn't help you this time around but maybe next year. Few other tips here that may help https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance/how-to-get-cheap-car-insurance/#costcut
  6. Number 1 in understandable and expected. but the rest, what a crazy situation, so many holes in that. How do I know if I'm out for a run with friends that own Porsches or if they are friends with Porsches that have PCGB membership? Would I need to check each ones membership status first before going for a run? What if the F-Type owner was also a member of PCGB? I imagine if one company has these exceptions other will too. As usual most only find out when they need to claim and the insurance co will find one of these exceptions and call it out.
  7. You forget how pedantic and to the letter insurance companies are. I will put money on they asked you if you have had any claims in the last x years. You probably said no, which they could, if they wanted to, turn into you giving false info as you did have a claim, the fact the claim is for a windscreen is irrelevant if that was the question they asked. If they asked have you had any claims excluding glass claims, then that's a different question. As usual we normally only find out when we come to claim that they decide if your policy is valid or not...
  8. Do you have legal cover on your insurance policy? If so find their details and give them a call and talk through the options available and see what they suggest.
  9. They are specialist insurers, many car owners will have fitted different engines to their cars, upped the capacity, popped in a V8, maybe someone popped in a diesel at some point. They will have a generic question list that covers everything from your bog standard customer with a Mondeo or the home built kit car running a chip fat running diesel engine
  10. Oh yeah....oops, thought this was a new thread, didn't see page 1... note to self "Read the page properly before replying" 🤣🤣🤣
  11. Used them a fair bit with the kit cars I had. Never had an issue. Also used them for my Audi, very competitive quote and then I had to claim a non fault accident 3 years ago (my car was parked when hit) put into their claim process and passed to a claims handling company, not sure if part of APlan or not. Very efficient and smooth process to resolve for me.
  12. yes they do. Got my daily driver through them
  13. Had A-Plan when I had my kit cars, stayed with them when I got the 981, got my Audi with them too. Prices have always been around the best for me. Having had a no fault claim with them on the Audi earlier in the year I can say the claims process went smoothly too. It's not just the bottom line price that's important if you have a nightmare claiming for anything. But claiming through them was pain free (although that pain may come on renewal, we shall see....)
