Have you driven it yet? Mine only showed it had an airlock on the first drive, was happy idling to temp when stationary, just something to be wary of, but as you’ve got 22 litres back in, it should be good 👍

  2. I had a MY2009 pcm3.0 with phone and it worked with an iphone X.

Had to get the phone module removed (by coding) so that the pcm used “hands free profile” instead of “remote sim access”. What protocol does your pcm screen show when trying to set up?

I believe it is user selectable on later software revisions but mine was on original and had never been updated.

  3. My 2.9 had a bleeder under the engine cover next to the coolant tank, I’m guessing the confusion comes from earlier models having the bleeder near the filler in the boot and it being moved to undef the engine cover on later models.

You can probably refill without a vacuum filler, but I’ll bet you my car you overheat the engine in the process. Just get a vacuum filler and buy/borrow/hire a compressor if you haven’t got one.

  4. Darren fitted a pair of then Hartech arms to my old boxster a few years back, my memory isn’t great but i seem to recall the surcharge only applied if the arms replaced weren’t original porsche.
I’m sure the same still applies, only original porsche arms get remanufactured, anything else is just scrapped.

Hartech used to refurb these but not any more as its probably not cost effective. The Spyder performance ones are your best bet. Link

Front and rear arms are different on a 987

I think Darren at Unique Porsche has taken over the hartech contract on the coffin arms ( he probably fitted more than hartech themselves😂)

I recently went there for some plates for my new to me 996, i asked about the creaking my car makes when its been driven for a few hours when hot, he put it up on a ramp and pointed at the “cheap chinese made” spyder arms. Whilst they work, it is believed the grease fitted to the ball joints is insufficient/low quality and is less effective over time, as he has replaced spyder arms before prematurely compared to OE, as we all know spyder are considerably cheaper than OE though.

My car has a lot of non standard suspension parts fitted, so pinning down the creaks will take me some time, it may be a combination of components, not just the spyder arms.

I know i sing the praises of Unique Porsche before, but they really do a great service, i only went for plates but he was happy to get my new car on the lift, mainly to look at brake lines to check it was safe, and let me have a good look underneath, all for free!

  7. Assuming you have registered on autotrader, you can add your reg to “the vehicles you own” and see a book guide price for part ex / private sale. (Like a wbac valuation but without the spam)

Compare that price to other similar vehicles for sale, and decide how serious you are about selling it, a good price for your vehicle, as you requested, should be obvious.

Asking the opinions of existing owners who may have a vested interest in inflating values, could lead to unrealistic suggestions, leading to disappointment in your desired outcome.

  8. Or if you’re an iphone user, get a secondhand bovee and cable for the ipod connector and select tracks/albumn/playlists via bluetooth.

other thing to check with the phone bluetooth if it has later software adding HFP in addition to rSAP as rSAP is rubbish nowadays.

  9. I had the wiring plug/loom for the handle microswitch loose inside the drivers door, i diagnosed it when stationary by waving the door vigorously once open, it should highlight if anything is loose inside the door.

That’s enough to put my off properly now, owning an E46 m3 I know all about big end bearings! Lack of servicing and care when cold causes these to wear out.

Glad you understand its not a specific porsche problem.

Quite eye opening how the guy in that video finds the engine rebuild advertised as £2987 on ebay, but ends up with a bill over £7000🤯

  11. That video above is fixing a stiff left to right in neutral, by means of a seized pivot on a bracket.  Maybe yours is seized solid?

Also did you leave it in fifth gear when you parked it? How did it get stuck there?

  12. My 987.2 also didn’t have the manuals, i managed to buy this pack from ebay

I think the 987.2 have the red car on the front and 987.1 has a silver car.

i also bought the 987.2 inc spyder which must be for MY11 car(i will be listing these manuals for sale later)

  13. I’ve bought from onbuy.com before as a punt but quality was brilliant.

(for some reason my phone wont copy a link)

Search for “Porsche 76 centres” and look for the cheap ones (mine were about £9) beware some are more expensive at £45.

    Thanks for the welcome all.

Apologies for the wheel centres alignment and no, unfortunately that's not my fence... :)

PCM bluetooth is odd, it's shown as 'PCM' and also sometimes 'Handsfree' on my phone when trying to connect - just picked up a new iPhone 14 Pro.

My understanding and experience with my 2009 PCM 3.0 with telephone module on original version software was a pixel 3 phone could connect but an iphone x wouldn’t. This was using rsap as that is what is default with the phone module ( someone more knowledgeable may be able to confirm), i would however get a text from vodafone about using a new phone and sending settings every time i used the car, so it didn’t get used for very long.

I have read somewhere that a software update in MY2011 can allow the system to decide and switch between Rsap and hfp itself, but i cant confirm as I didn’t update my software.

When i had my cruise retrofit coded i asked the indy to remove the option for the telephone module, and upon reboot it showed that HFP was active instead of rsap and my iphone x connected straight away like its connecting to headphones and works as expected, the rsap profile is supposed to allow more features and possibly use a built in aerial, but it caused more trouble than i found it was worth.

I found some old threads on other sites about MY2009 bluetooth issues which might explain it better.

  15. Welcome and nice car!

re: PCM 3.0 bluetooth, what phone do you have? and what mode does it show on the PCM, either remote sim access profile or hands free profile (rSAP or HFP)

Your phone will be connectable but may require settings to be changed with PIWIS.
