  1. Perfect, the thread title worried me..................
  2. I am over 60 next month, will I still be allowed to watch them? Seriously, well done.
  3. Actually no that cannot be fully correct otherwise I would not have to change my licence. To be honest my head is fried trying to make sense of all the new rules, I think it is they don't need the green card at all, their insurance covers them in the UK without one , this makes more sense in terms of Northern Ireland. and would be an essential element of the agreement if we value peace over and above bits of paper.
  4. I could qualify for Irish citizenship by marriage if I hadn't been living outside the ROI for the last few years, but I have so no unfortunately. I think taking the test again is a bit of a last resort, I might well try applying for a duplicate on the grounds of loss before turning over the original for a UK licence though. The family insurers thing is interesting, I cannot say too much on an open forum but we caught them out in a GDPR breach and they had to back off their line of questioning. I will be shopping around for an annual green card on my UK insurance though. Not quite,
  5. Since 2011 I have run a company in the UK whilst my family remained living and working in Ireland. This hasn't really caused any problems, I drove back and forth in my UK registered car without any issue and kept my EU licence which allowed me to drive my own car and the family car when I am in Ireland. From Jan 1st it appears I have to get a green card every time I want to drive to Ireland which is a pain but I can live with it, the biggest issue is I have to give up my EU licence and get a UK one which means that I can no longer be covered on the Irish family car. The overall chang
  6. Should be fine then, insurance companies would never behave in such a way😉
  7. I think it is, I can only speak for my own policies obviously but I phoned a few companies for clarification and none did blanket cover for Europe with full cover (rather than TP only), now I would be delighted to be proved wrong.
  8. This is a bit of a minefield for me as I drive to Ireland regularly and unless I notify them each time I am third party only. I cannot notify them for each trip and pay, it isn't practical
  9. Brilliant marketing then! Funny but be wary of the PC Police......................... oh no surely you're not gonna tell me..........
  10. Araf is correct, I run an ecommerce business and we cannot refund a transaction straight away as the merchant bank won't let us, don't panic just yet I sometimes get calls from customers saying they can't see the refund even when I have managed to process it, they always get them in the end.
  11. Looked at the price, was mystified, then looked at the car....... ahhhhh!
  12. Thanks @cj225 used exactly the same speakers and a great improvement particularly for the money.
  13. I don't recall it being that slow either
  14. I have very little NCB as I lived in Irelan for 26 years. The only way I could insure the Boxster was as a second car for limited mileage only, even then some of the quotes were mad, one company even asked if I was used to driving a rear wheel drive car with 250bhp. I am 56 and been driving since I was 16 (moped) and 17 (car). So yesin some circumstances it makes a difference.
  15. I bet the second bit makes a big dent in the first bit. Only good thing about Stockport is cheap housing, no one wants to live here.
  16. Good job you get big salaries and cheap houses..... Hee hee
  17. Can't see a tractor on your list of vehicles soooooo.......................
  18. You live in Somerset, no one else there to drive into! Move to the s....hole that is Stockport and ask for a new quote!
  19. I agree if it was a bit over I'd have said nothing. I checked my policy and it was very specific and as I was going to be double the mileage agreed I didn't want to risk it. The £257 was so much cheaper than anyone else (due to previously living in Ireland and not having much NCB), I wanted to keep them onside at renewal time ( the value of that remains to be seen of course.
  20. That's really coincidental, I have my policy with Footman James at 3000 miles for £257 pa. I can't live without the car now (bit dramatic) as it is too much fun so I have just increased it to 7000 miles. There are only 3 and a half months left to run and it cost £109 extra, they gave me the £9 back as car is now garaged. I have to say my dealings with FT have always been very positive, so far I would recommend them.
  21. I put a 3000 limit on my Boxster using a second car policy, problem is I love it so much I did that in less than 4 months. I have also found that everyone who says these cars have to be driven is correct, at least that's our excuse.
