On the 987 you put in a long tool, from the frunk, one quick turn and the headlight pops out. And it looks to be the same on 986

Thanks both, next weeks job sorted 😄

im hoping having litronic lights makes no difference.

I recently bought a 2003 3.2S which needs some TLC.  Polished the light today which were very faded using a 10 quid kit from Ebay.  Results are amazing even though I got caught out by a shower when the sealer was still soft but still a massive improvement for the money.

Also cleaned the roof for the third time and it turns out its blue not black!

I’ve got to do this job properly, can I ask how you took the headlights out please?

I think @onedesi mentioned the 986 being valid for classic status and the applicable discounts, might that be of use for the price of mats from an OPC??

Yes I think so, you have to go through the classic registration process and I think that takes 4/6 weeks.

I believe so, my USB has a blue light when it is live (and a cover !) and i have never had a dead battery. Just been to check and the USB comes on with the stereo (key position 2?) and then off when back to position 0.

Thanks so much - can I ask which lighter adaptor you bought?

I have the CDD7418UB-OR and it does not have the ability to plug in a USB for charging. It will accept a USB to play music. In the picture to the left of the HU you can see the cigarette socket which i have replaced with a double USB socket.

Thanks very much for that - I hadn’t thought of your solution which is really smart 👍🏼

does the cigarette lighter power down when the ignition is switched off, I’d hate to come back to. A flat battery.

Forgot to add that you will need a harness and which one depends on whether you have an amp fitted or not but you will get all this info on the Bergvill web site and that’s another reason I chose to buy from them

To assist others, TRD7412UB-OR has DAB (extra D in the part number), TR7412UB-OR, no DAB,  Difference is about £20 in price.

Are you able to discretely wire in an iPhone charging cable to the headunit?

I was thinking about getting a brodit holder but didn’t want a cable dangling across the front of the car.

Unfortunately not the Continentals do not dim with the binnacle lights and I don’t know if they can be paired with more than 1 phone so I would email them and ask the question, they replied to me pretty quickly when I contacted them. Having lived with mine for about a month now I am still very happy with the Continental and anyone who has seen it fitted to my Boxster has commented that it looks stock  which is the look I was trying to achieve

Can I ask which model of continental you bought and does it allow streaming from your phone (mine is an iPhone).

the CD23 just seems to light up and none of the buttons work at all - I’m sick of Whitney Houston 😄

I’ve seen a lot units for sale on eBay from Germany but no idea if I need a wiring harness.

bergvill seems expensive compared to eBay

  8. A different car but we’ve just traded in our Audi Q2 for a Skoda karoq and the dealer wanted the Q2 for his own forecourt so matched the WBAC price and wouldn’t let us leave until we said yes 😄

I think the Wolves and Solihull dealers for Porsche aren’t great when it comes to buying and selling cars, great service team.

  9. I’d say you will still be able to sell for more than you paid next summer so you may as well enjoy the spyder for a year.

I was quoted next April for a GTS 4.0 and the spyder is even more limited than that (I’d sell a kidney to buy one at RRP).

at least this way you enjoy the car whilst under warranty and who knows which itch you’ll have next year 😉

im hoping to get a 981 spyder at some point.

It seems the 991.1 Turbo S is just not that special 🤣

I’d email a few of them and see what happens, try silverstone and the ones down south like Portsmouth and maybe east London
