As mine arrived yesterday and I will be fitting them next week are you saying it is all or nothing or something more subtle?

The bulbs are marked + and -, the - connects to the brown wire on the existing connector.  It’s very easy.

You sold me on them. Ordered a set even though the eBay website says they aren't compatible with my 2008 987.1.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.  They should definitely fit.  It will be good to hear what you think of them

Curious. I just followed the link to the website and put in my vehicle details (2005 987 3.2S) and it tells me the bulbs are unsuitable for my car. I'm on the standard halogen bulbs. Should I believe them?

That’s odd.  I think it must be an eBay error as they certainly fit.  I got the link from PH I think, a few on there were recommending them.  This is a link to the manufacturer’s website and it lists Porsche among the makes that they fit: https://www.novsights.com/products/novsight-a315-9000lm-72w-led-car-headlight

    $39 on there!

You’ll most likely find these led lamps look brighter as you’re looking at the car but when you’re out and it’s dark the actual light thrown out is totally all over the place and doesn’t light up the road any better than the old candle power ones.
As noted elsewhere it’s best to not drive a 987 with normal filament headlamps during the hours of darkness!

Although it wasn’t pitch dark on my drive out tonight it was dark enough to tell that these are a big upgrade on the old lights.  Not dissimilar to the xenon lights I’ve had on various BMWs and Audis in the past.

Be interested to hear more about these. Were they easy to fit? Any canbus errors? What kind of brightness improvement in real world driving?

    Thanks

I’ve just taken it out for a spin down some dark country roads near me.  What a massive improvement with a very bright, white light and good spread.  I must have passed 30 cars coming in the opposite direction and no one flashed me so I don’t think they’re dazzling.

They were very easy to install, simply plug in in place of the originals.  The terminal is marked + and - and the - connects to the brown wired side of the original connector.  The hardest part was getting the headlights back in but just takes a bit of jiggling around.  No canbus errors, no flickering.  They come with a 3 year guarantee so hopefully will last for a while.  Pound for pound I’d say it’s the best mod I’ve done on the car as with the original headlamps I never felt confident driving in the dark.

  6. Thanks both.  I was thinking about wheels initially as mine are in for refurb at the moment.  My paint is pretty good as I DA compounded, polished and then waxed it about 6 months ago.  Being seal grey it doesn’t show swirls so much so perhaps that makes a difference too - I imagine it’s worse on dark colours?  I expect I’d have to remove the wax and polish with another compound before ceramic coating too?  I suppose a session on YouTube will give me a good steer!
