  1. I've been using confused.com for years, and usually switch to a different provider every year. Cheap as chips for the Cayman (but then again, I am quite old and have full no claims, which probably helps) so insurance is not a major factor for me ☺️
  2. Same here mate, but insurance on the Cayman is only 23 squid per month, so getting older has got some advantages... ☺️ I've been using Confused.com for years, and they seem to come up with competitive prices every time (I swapped from Saga to RAC this year, and that kept the price about the same as last year)
  3. No, I get my butler to pay the Indy, and then reimburse him - Get it right buddy
  4. Well, it's that time of year when thoughts turn to renewing my car insurance, and after receiving a renewal from Saga which increased the policy from £258 to £365 (cheeky gits! ) I spent half an hour shopping around on confused.com for a cheaper option. I decided to go with RAC this time, and after tweaking a few options such as reducing the excess to a compulsory £275 with zero voluntary contribution, and a protected NCB, the total cost for the year was £268 (so only a tenner more than last year - Result!). I'm paying monthly, and after an initial one-off £19.94 deposit it's £22.58 per month, which I think is a decent price. I could have saved just under 30 quid by paying in one installment, but I prefer to spread the cost over the year. I think I will get a £20 Halfords voucher from confused.com as well, so overall I reckon I've done OK
  5. Looks like a great show - My invitation must have got lost in the post!
  6. How do they determine what is "short term"...? My suggestion would be to just drive it under your own insurance. If you're not comfortable with that, just hire the cheapest car you can find for 5 days. I haven't hired a car for ages, but I don't think they're that expensive, as long as you avoid the bigger firms like Avis/Hertz etc.
  7. Looks like a fiddly job. Thankfully mine has already got the non-smokers shelf cup fitted, which is much neater than the ashtray Seeing this thread has reminded me, I haven't got any photos showing the interior of the Cayman - Very poor, after a whole year of ownership
  8. That sounds promising mate, you should definitely be able to claim from their public liability insurance. Failing that, you could also try suing them via the Small Claims Court. I think it costs about 80 quid to start that process, and you won't need to pay any more, regardless of the outcome. You've got plenty of evidence to back up your claim, so I reckon you will get a result in the end. Good luck anyway.
  9. I would claim on the insurance, and save yourself 470 quid. A no-brainer IMHO.
  10. That's right mate, I never really felt like I fitted in at Saga anyway, I'm far too young (er... in my head anyway! ) I don't think there was much room for negotiation on the price - If it went any lower, they would end up paying me...
  11. Just had my annual email from confused.com ready for my renewal next month, and I've sorted out a new policy. My current insurer (SAGA) wasn't offered on there this time, so I had a look at the first few on the list, and decided to go for Halifax this time. They weren't quite the cheapest, but there was only a few quid difference, so not enough to worry about. I've been banking with them for decades, and also have house and contents insurance with them, so it made sense to keep everything in one place. Also, I reduced the excess to just £100 (voluntary excess = £0, compulsory excess = £100) and that didn't seem to make much of a difference to the cost, so a no-brainer. I thought last year was pretty good, at £18 per month, but this year is only £13.42 (with a £12.14 initial payment) so it appears I have reached the sweet spot of being old enough to be a careful driver, but not so old that I'm a bleedin' liability on the road... As if that wasn't enough of a bargain, I will also receive a £20 Halfords voucher from confused.com Today has been a good day.............
