In my experience, yes. But it may be because I am always trying to get the cheapest car insurance, which is probably cheap for a reason.

I suspect this is going to be a very long process of firstly claiming on your own insurance and then using legal action to recover the costs. Small claims court may be suitable for this?

Your renewals "may" be cheaper now, so there may be less incentive to shop around, but you may still be cheaper by shopping around for other companies.
