  1. Not a scooby-doo with the EEPROM, I'm afraid.
  2. Hi Richard my name is Dean and I have a 2002 MY Boxster S Tiptronic I think AThat Ali spoke to you recently about coding cruise control to my car and you told him his version of PIWIS couldn’t do that

I read somewhere that my car because it’s a tip needs 3 different modules coded ie cluster, stalk and gearbox could you confirm this is the case or is that incorrect

    thanks Dean

  3. I bought one of these footwell lighting kits, and fitted it to the car just after Christmas. (How can you spec. adaptive cruise on a car, and not the interior light pack is a bit of a mystery, but it takes all sorts I guess). No dramas with the fitting, but it made me realise I am getting too old for DIY-ing! Mine is a 718S, but the wiring in the area of the LH fuse panel is identical. I think I would have preferred to run the loom around the front of the footwell, rather than over the top, but it was too short for that. I was a bit knackered by the time I got to putting it back together, and the loom ended up by being tacked in place by a couple of pieces of duct tape. In retrospect, I should have taken a few photos, as the above photos don't show everything you need to know. Getting the panel surrounding the fuse box off had me scratching my head, until I read the workshop manual. The Porsche LEDs aren’t as bright as I was expecting, but they are a hell of lot better than nothing! Maybe the Audi ones are brighter, but like I say I’m getting too old to be grovelling in the footwell shaving the brackets to suit. Doing it in the winter doesn’t help either, although it is the time of year you get most benefit. Overall though, I’m happy. The price of the Porsche LEDs was a bit OTT, but that’s not Robin's fault. I know how long these things take to knock up in small batches, so I think that it is good value for the parts he manufactures, the quality is very good, and I can't fault the service. The Audi LED kit is much better value for someone with better agility than me though.
  4. Hi @richardhamilton I understand you maybe able to programme retrofit cruise? I have a 2008 987.1 Boxster and have the kit which looks simple. Thanks

  5. Hi Richard I’m new to this forum and also a new Porsche Boxster owner ! I’m looking for someone to code my 987.2 for cruise control as your sort of near me can you recommend anyone ? I live near Romsey in Hampshire but work in Basingstoke.

    Regards

  6. Hi Richard

I am trying to set up a new rear controller on  a Boxter 987. The soft line starts with a code line and as all connections make the rear lights and the hood. All then goes to normal

I am close to Abingdon tel 01235 200700. You are by Henley??

  7. Hi Richard, hoping you might be able to suggest a solution here. I've got 987.1 with PCM2.1 and Bose amp. It's currently running (I think) 2004/2005 maps. Having read lots of stuff on this (most of the useful stuff from you), I understand I need to update firmware to Level C and then should be able to use 2015 maps? Fortunately Colin (Chanlon1) put out that he had both the Level C firmware disc and the 2015 map and was kind enough to forward to me. These appear to be OEM Porsche items as are all "logo'd up". So I followed guidance that you set out in a previous thread, but the firmware just quits approx 15% into the update. For info my current versions are: Amp 00017500/3504, PSM 05024CD1/3905. I've tried the firmware update with trickle charger attached and with car running but same result. Any ideas?

  8. It may do basic coding, but I'm pretty sure if won't do a handover routine. When a car randomly loses its settings due to a flat or disconnected battery, it doesn't change the coding itself. It usually puts the affected modules into transit (delivery) mode, and the handover routine wakes them up.
  9. The service interval and distance is stored in the instrument cluster. When you do a service reset, it sets the next service date and mileage automatically.
  10. Hi Richard

I hope you do not mind me contacting you.

I used the search function and you kindly supplied a member sometime ago with a radio code.

I have a 99 2.5 Boxster and I had to disconnect the battery. The radio is now asking me to enter the code that I do not have.

Do I need to remove the stereo completely to get the serial number from the side of the  unit in order to get the code?

Can it not be sourced from VIN or reg number?

    Many thanks

    Paul

  11. Hi Richard, email is baerchen68@yahoo.co.uk

would appreciate the wiring diagram and any other info on where to fix the relay and what relay to use. would the heated rear window relay work with the matching switch or is it too high a rating?

  12. Hi Richard

I am trying to upgrade my sat nav as the thread.

    My Amp is 00017500/3504

    PCM is 04202JDI/3004

From your steer it would appear I have to upgrade the operating system. Do yo have a link to the updates or would you be able to assist in some way? I now have a copy of the Sat nav disc from Newbox.

    Regards

    Angus

  13. On PIWIS there is a coding option in the Front control unit for "Daylight running lights mandatory". Anyone tried changing the setting to see what happens?
