I'm not particularly bothered about the price of the PCCM+, and the maps will be cracked and distributed on a greymarket soon enough, as was the case with the PCM.2.1 discs. I've never have an original update or map disc.
The thing that concerns me is the manafacturer support. Very worrying signals from the 986 PCCM+, anecdotal evidence obviously.
Isn't it funny how subjective how infotainment is. I really dislike TomToms, and aftermarket solutions and have zero issue with the 2.1 nav - it's never failed to get me to a destination. All I want is a better music selection 😀

Yes it was tips, not S's having the center rad. I'd take a look at the parts diag to see how it fits together, might give you some pointers.

Dermot's location is "Oxford", anyone got good OPC suggestions? I have rarely heard good things about Silverstone. Solihull?
Reading, but my experience has varied.

I reckon I'll spend 5K this year (in the last 3 months). Had a few cheap years recently, so it all averages out.

Cannot put a PCM 3 in a Gen 1 987.
Either go aftermarket, or wait and go PCCM+ next year.

I'm really interested in the PCCM Plus for 997/987. Actually, I'm quite happy with the PCM 2.1 other than I can't stream music from my phone to the stereo.
Reading up on people's experiences with the 986 varient it hasn't been without issues - bugs, as well as being locked into the dealer network for mapping and software updates. I wonder if a grey market will appear for this content as it did for the PCM update discs. Hopefully.
I'd also like to see a demonstration too, prior to purchase - something that's unlikley to be possible other than via YouTube reviews. My local OPC only seem interested in selling 100k+ cars.
Announcement was seen here, although I've not seen anything official from Porsche;

"Less drastic but no less useful is the expanded rollout of digital infotainment technology to fit older models as recent as the 997, with that variant's PCCM system due for launch in 2022 in response to demand."
Porsche Classic Site for PCCM (currenty 9x6) is here;

Coolant pressure release valve in rear boot?

I think the issue is that the friction material binds through minor surface corrosion and over time this cracking off weakens the material until the last time and it falls apart.
Exactly. I was driving when one of the shoes on mine failed. You get a loud grinding noise as it gets chewed up inside the rear disc. Noteworthy point is that it happened straight after the car has been stood for a few days, and the shoes were corroded onto the disc. Forcing it free when pulling away pushed it over the edge. Failed about 10miles later.
Fotunately I needed to do the rear discs\pads anyway.
Takeaway point is that leaving the car chocked, and not with handbrake on if left for an extended period is the way forward.

I'm curious about your new stone guards. They look different to mine where they bolt on. They look absolutely fab. What year is your Boxster please?
2005 987. I just replaced the original part, like for like.

I've always been a little puzzled about why hand brake shoes actually need replacing?
As friction lining wear can only happen when the shoes are pressed up against a moving surface, how do they wear out when they're just pressing against a stationary surface on a stationary car.
Unless you do a lot of hand brake turns, that is .....
In my case the original fiction material totally disintergrated and delaminated from the metal shoe.
All pretty again...

😍 Move the 911 out of the way so we can have a better view of the Boxster 😍
Seriously though, Carlos is a top bloke. This is what BoXa's all about. I'll enjoy that with the Mrs on the patio later. Glad you're sorted buddy 🤙

ATM - if you want to borrow mine for a week, you're welcome to. I'm in Macc, just don't run off with it, or fek it up as they're not the cheapest things

I'm glad we have a how-to on how to remove four screws 😄.
But seriously, looks smart. You can order the clips as a seperate part, too.

I thought you could code this in PIWIS\Durametric?
🤔

That's a good price. I just did all of mine, myself and parts alone were £410.
Edit - Oh front only 😆
