  1. Hi all, I wanted to post a review of The Car Hood Warehouse in Chessington as I have recently used them to supply and fit a new hood on my Boxster. Firstly I would like to point out that I am probably the most an*l and fussy person on the planet and always have high expectations, and I really didn’t think my high expectations would be met, let alone have them surpassed. The story begins with me putting the hood down on Friday morning, it wasn’t even cold as we have been enjoying a mini heat wave, however 10 years must have taken their toll on the rear plastic screen and it went ‘pop’. I have only had the car 3 weeks so was a bit hacked off. I did some phoning around to get some quotes for a new plastic screen and they were coming in at around £450 (fitted). I was told that you couldn’t have a glass window fitted into the older hood and I would have to go for a complete new hood, one place quoted me £1200 for a whole new hood. I decided that seeing as I plan to keep the car a long time it would be wise to go for a new hood and plus it’s a pain getting out to make sure the rear screen is folding flat, plus they get scratched etc, and you have to be very careful putting the hood down when it’s cold. I had heard about The Car Hood Warehouse before, I have seen their adverts and they have been around for ages, I decided to give them a call and the customer service/attitude of the chap I initially spoke to was superb, this was a Friday afternoon and I said that I needed it done ASAP he said “how about tomorrow” , then there was the price.....£760 fitted! This was a no brainer and my calling around for quotes stopped there and then. When I arrived the guys there were very personable with a ‘that’s no trouble” attitude, I felt very comfortable leaving my pride and joy with them and headed off for some lunch, I came back a bit early and chatted to the guys whilst they were working, it was really interesting to watch the craftsmen at work and they really take pride in what they do, I also watched them dealing with other customers whilst I was there (they were manically busy, they had worked on 10 cars before they started mine) and everyone was delighted with their work, and I was impressed with the way they took their time with each customer and went around the car with them explaining how to maintain the hood and keep it looking A1. The guys there are real petrolheads and are passionate about motors, the chap that worked on my car has had more cars than I have had hot dinners! They do about 10 Boxster hoods a week so are very familiar with the car, one of the fitters there used to have a Boxster S and he was very knowledgeable about them. The chap who was working on my car ran through the type of fabric/material they use , It was twice as thick as the original Porsche fabric! The rear window is smaller than the plastic window but I prefer the look as its more ‘speedster’ looking. And rear vision isn’t too limiting because of this, I love the look of it! And I know this sounds an*l.... but the job was so neat, no glue anywhere, no bits and pieces lying around in the car, no fingerprints anywhere. I am so happy I called these guys, it’s never a nice feeling to have to shell out £760 shortly after buying a car and this was made easier by having a top job done at a reputable company. And I reckon it’s a bargain at that price too. I had to drive back with the roof up as it needs a couple of days to settle in, and it did actually seem quieter and more refined. It’s such a quality hood, excellent fit, I am well chuffed! I have enclosed a couple of pics.... and once again – If you need a new hood or rear screen, give these guys a bell. Thanks guys!!!! clicky... http://www.flickr.com/photos/karlos123/ Email: info@carhood.com Tel: +44 (0) 20 8391 5324 / 5326 Fax: +44 (0) 20 8391 5851 Address: Unit D3 Barwell Business Park, Leatherhead Road, Chessington, Surrey KT9 2NY United Kingdom
