First time porsche owner, but having trouble finding a decent insurer

Recommended Posts

I've had big powerful saloons and Imprezas for years and I fancied something a bit smaller and the Boxster seemed to tick all the boxes so I bought this:

But now I have a problem! My current insurer won't touch Porsches even though they cover my Group 21 ZT260 for less than £500 and mirror my NCB bonus. I got a requote from my broker with a different insurer and they wanted £1,100 which is ridiculous!

I did some online quotes using my full NCB and I £450 was the cheapest but I dont want to have to use my NCB..

Are there any Porsche specialist insurers out there who will mirror NCB on limited mileage policies?

Thanks guys!

I dont really know much about the Boxster I've bought lol! I just liked the look of it and it was a mechanically sound car :) Its got a boot spoiler and the boot says "Aero" something or another on the under side of it.. And I'm assuming the wheels and big yellow brakes arent standard?

Problem with people like admiral is they wont mirror the NCB, they will do multi-car but they never seem to be competitve :(

admiral multicar online gave incredible quotes for our 3cars (£211 for the Boxster) albiet with high excess selected & mileage up to 7000. I don't think NCB makes that much difference on the 3rd car with them.

I would touch Adrian F**ks with a barge pole, deceptive little buggers they are.

I might try a multi-car quote but I've only just insured my other car :(

Totally agree regarding Adrian Flux, Robbing B*stards.

Love the car!

Best quote I got was DirectLine but even that was still well over a grand.

I use Nowell & Richards at the moment. Not had to claim, thankfully, but their quote was far friendlier than A Flux. When N & R were quoting, I explained exactly where the car was garaged (across the road from my house, in a neighbours garage), and the consultant went off to call the underwriter who promptly google mapped the area to check out where the car is kept. This impressed me... but then, I'm easily impressed.

Edited to add: N & R mirrored my NCD used on a Ford Focus policy, also my post code is BB1 which covers a huge part of Blackburn - some parts of which are somewhat less than classy.

its still OK , the insurance on each car runs from date of expiry of your existing policy.

Try A Plan (Thatcham branch). I've just insured with them, a very competitive quote. Obviously I've only just joined them so can't vouch for anything else, but my mate uses them and reckons they are good.

I been using A Plan private clients in High Wycombe who are specifically set up for sports and performance cars for many years: 01494 427900

A-Plan are very competitive on the 1st quote - just don't ask them to change anything after you've signed up e.g. moved house as they charge over the odds (~£40) for any changes!

I'm with Bell and have been very impressed with them.

Not sure about cheap quotes for drivers with high NCB as I've only got 1 year and my partner has none but we just renewed with Admiral Multi-Car. I'm 26 and my partner's 24 and they quoted just less than £950 for a 2.7 Boxster parked on-street, 10,000 miles p.a.

Admiral WILL mirror NCB, they have done it for me in the past and a few other people that I know. They don't advertise it though, and you have to ask very nicely.

Try CCI (http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/company.htm). Great company and you are dealing with real people (helpful, knowledgeable ones at that), not a computer which likes to say no.

Not only will they be competitive price wise but their policies usually include free trackday cover as well.

Whats the deal with Flux? I have all three cars with them and the Box renewal is due in July.

I was planning to look around anyway, but they were quite competetive last time round.

I don't have a problem with Flux either but will be shopping around to beat the £560 they have just quoted,im nearly 40 it's gotta be cheaper than that!

I ended up re-jigging my NCB.. I used my full NCB on the Boxster and my couple of years I had from my second car on my Megane.. Saved a pretty penny in the end as no one would properly mirror my NCB!
