Patt
Well it seems the known fault with heaters blasting the pedals, is also effected by a decent summers day. Brake pedal in the morning commute is fine. Brake pedal in the afternoon sticks on, to the point the car wont move until I pull it up with my foot. I'll be calling OPC Reading and booking it in for a warranty repair. I wonder what they'll try and charge me with as extras - the brake fluid was done before I took delivery along with new front discs and pads.... I'd book it in earlier but I'm off to Brands tomorrow and don't fancy driving anything else down there.
tcornet
Patt, I’ve used Reading in the past and they are ok. They’ve never tried to sell extras to me
red rocket
Hard to believe a Porsche has a fault like this !
Boxster981S
My friend had the same fault on his 2012 cayman back in feb. I noticed his break lights on for a good twenty minute even uphill. He had brand new brakes and pads and had a nice lip afterwards, Porsche replaced the front discs foc.
Patt
Thanks guys. Ive always been happy with the parts guys.. Unfortunately when I went to consider buying a 981GTS, I was given an arrogant youth of a salesman that decided I couldn't afford it without asking me any questions except current car. His face was a picture when I left in the 993T mind? I also want to quiz them on fitting Porsche parts, but not by Porsche with respect to warranty. I bottled last weeks planned suspension upgrade

daz05
Just fit the parts and they will be none the wiser if you ask too many questions they are more likely to be curious of your intentions.
toocan
Is this a disks and pads job? Or a brake pedal issue - seems a bit wierd its only when its hot to be the former

Or a brake pedal issue - seems a bit wierd its only when its hot to be the former Its a bushing issue on the brake pedal. Porsche have used two different types of plastic that expand at different rates and tighten on the pedal pin Typically I sold my car last Friday and the new owner was the first lucky recipient of the warning on the dash 25 miles into his journey home. It was a hot day and they had the blower on the footwell as well (very good about it though I must say)

From a google search I could only find older cars affected but maybe Patt can confirm the age of his car?
CMA
My old 2013 Box was affected once, luckily I noticed it and knew what it was so I could manage it and turn the heat from the blowers away from it. Not shown up on the new 981S yet but I'm keeping an eye out for it. Both are 2013 cars too

temporarychicken
I had this issue in year 2 from new. The pedal bush for the brake was replaced under warranty. No problems since. it started with a friend following behind me noticing my brake lights were on when I did not appear to be braking. Eventually I got to having to lift the pedal manually before driving off, ala Patt. Also some random ABS message came up just before I took it in. its a common failure point. Each winter the heat blasted into the footwell by the jester makes it worse. i can’t remember if it was an updated bush or not, but I will dig through the paperwork if antibody needs the info, part no. etc. This, in fact was the only warranty repair my car ever had, or will have in my ownership! mneil
Cautionary tale: my 2012 had it replaced, unfortunately the fitter didn't install it correctly and it worked it's way halfway out.

That's interesting, mine is March 2014 and I assumed that they had fixed the problem by then. I do drive with the heating flat out into the footwells so it seems that I'm lucky to have got away with it so far.
Patt
Ironically my temperature is usually set at 20 deg on the 981 with the foot well blowers not even selected. The fault was caused by the ambient temperature. I'm half expecting a call today saying "nothing wrong sir" just because we are back to normal weather. fat haggis
i have not had this problem , as my car has more miles under its tale, im sure if it had the problem it was bound to have been fixed. its location meant it was a soft southerner who had it so the heating would have been on hot for his poor tootsies more than off them

IanM
I have a 2012 981, had it for 18 months, never had any issues with this pedal until a couple of weeks ago. The car was out in a car park on a hot (25 degrees) day while my lad played football. Come to go home and it soon became obvious I had a sticking brake pedal, found I needed to use my toe to lift the pedal. After a brief what do I do know moment, I turned on the air on and blasted the footwell with cold air. It soon made a difference and by the time I got home it was free. the question is, do I read correct that this is a warranty repair or recall? I have extended Porsche Warranty. Patt
Porsche refuse to acknowledge that it should be a safety recall ! Mine was fixed without question under my extended warranty. T24RES replaced his himself (out of warranty) in 10 mins on the driveway as preventative maintenance (cost £15)
