Any person who is paid for their time/service is ultimately a sales person. Advice if you can call it that varies depending on the products available and the interest to you and the financial sales person. There are many ways to help you choose the product "suited" for you but also for the financial sales person. (you notice I'm not using the bullshyate term IFA) There are many ways to plan for retirement, A pension is one of them. Wealth is defined by how long one could live normally without income. (I read that in some suped up self help get rich book full of BS) @Mattman42consolidating pensions could if handled correctly lead to bigger returns, but also bigger losses. Keeping a number of plans could have an increased fee base in comparison to the one plan, but will spread risk across multiple platforms, pension managers. You will probably find that your money is nestled in the same fund or individual share more than once, the mainstream pension plans tend to invest with similar behavior. The only thing I can say is do what you feel is right with your money. Regarding endowments, not one person would winge if they turned out to be a good investment. They also didn't winge at the time about front loading the mortgage, buying a new porsche or whatever or going on that holiday. No one is going to make you money.
