Best route is to use Imgur, or similar, and then get a Forum link from the image once uploaded there and paste it into your post.  The posting file size permitted on here is miniscule, I guess so the server doesn't get overloaded

Yeah, tiny image size on here. On Pistonheads for example you can just drag a file to upload and it does it all for you. I was looking at Imgur actually, but thought there may have been an in house solution. Thanks for the answer!

IIRC, it costs a lot of money to host a site that allows large files like a pic, rather than just text. If you use a hosting service like imgBB and so on, the pic isn't uploaded to this site - your computer just makes it look like it is.

Well I have opened an imgur account, generated a code for message boards and forums and got this:

Thats not right is it! :)

Tried it on PH and it worked a treat.

To do it on here you need to post link the this https://imgur.com/XJtXlMC into the editor on a new line and then hit return straight after and it should convert to actual image like magic

On your edit you've missed off the .jpg

Paste the whole lot starting with https and ending with .jpg in to a new post & the picture will come up straight away

This forum seems to be different from all the others as regards adding pics?

I'm on another forum (for watches, not cars) and the method for posting pics is exactly the same, but for some reason lots of people can't seem to grasp it.  I use Flickr for mine, and all you need to do is open a pic from your folders and copy the URL, then paste it into the body of your text on here.  It's really not difficult when you get the hang of it.

we like to be different, otherwise everyone would be driving a 911

if you use Flickr, there is no editing of the url, just slap it straight in here and bingo with a lemon on top!

On all the other forums I read, with imgBB  - after uploading to that, I copy and paste the embedded code called 'BBcode full'. That doesn't work here.

Should be a sticky somewhere as i can't be the only thicko on here!

Fear not, you're not! I was part of the thicko club early on, as have many. There's a couple of pinned threads to back that statement up 🤣
