has anyone routed a wire from the back to the front of the car, does the car have to be in service mode

morning all, as the weather isnt great thought id have a play around with a cheap rear camera,  just wondering has anyone routed the cable from front to the back of the car and if so does the car have to be in service mode, im assuming there be a rubber grommit somewhere between boot and engine bay.   seen videos for 911's but nothing for the 981
