6 Year Service....

Hi all,

My 981 Boxster S is due its 60,000/6 year service soon so the tedious task begins on ringing around centres for the best price. The car is under extended warranty, therefore ideally trying to take it to an OPC, but I understand it is possible to use an Indy if official Porsche parts are used to maintain the warranty.

As per my experience at the 4 year service, the variety of pricing between Porsche centres is huge. Reading through similar threads on here I have found a reference to the fixed price servicing which lists the 6 year service with belt change for £775, however no centre I have called so far is claiming they can get near that and having rung Porsche customer services I was told none to me, at least locally, are part of this scheme. For reference I am based near Cambridge.

Therefore just curious if anyone recently has agreed a 6 year service price at around the £775 including the belt change, and if so which centre this was with?

For reference best quote received so far is below at £985. One centre quoted just under £1400! All good fun and games this, appreciate any advice!

This is the case. However if you then want to renew your extended warranty Porsche will insist on the 111 point check and a major service. So if you are thinking of extending the warranty be careful or it’ll cost you more in the long run👍

I can't remember what I paid maybe £850 or so but I think sub £800 would be lucky from an OPC. Just pay the price and enjoy a day out in one of their cars to make up for it.

Yeah, I got a day out in a horrible orange Mini.  Thanks, Porsche Cambridge.

Thinking out loud....

You can likely argue down the "1 x topup/bag" - thats a litre of oil in a pouch - might take 30 quid off the price as a guess - window cleaner outer? - that screenwash ? - again maybe ask them to hold back on that for a tenner.

Some OPC's let you supply the OIL - 7.5 l of Mobil 1 likely about 80/90 quid looking at online prices - perhaps you can use that as leverage - or if they will let you supply then there might be scope for reducing the price that way.

I just picked a random well respected indy and looked at their price list - 60K service, including belt, filters and plugs £890, brake fluid about £100  - so similar price but you get a set of plugs ( I would double check that - i thought plugs were a 40K item).

If you are a PCGB member you get 10% off the parts from OPC and personally at that price point - I would look for somewhere I trusted that minimised the hassle for me - that may be a good indy, or it maybe an OPC.

Good point on the warranty renewal though  - I know that to get a car onto the scheme you need the 111 point check, and to have owned it for 3 months and for the most recent service to have been done at an OPC - but on renewal, not sure if the "most recent service" thing is a requirement - again - worth an ask to the OPC if that is your intent.

I think I paid something similar to the price quoted in the original post back in February from Porsche Sheffield, (got quotes from Stockport and Wilmslow as well). But mine did include the tyre sealant which doesn’t seem to be mentioned in your list, check if yours has expired. It is needed for warranty renewal (don’t bother otherwise)

Sounds a good price - need to add a belt in there as well - guess about 100 inc - I am assuming that's "generic" parts / better "value" oil  - would be interesting to know what they fit ( not saying good or bad just would be nice to understand what you are actually getting for your money )

just had a major service done and MOT at a well respected indy that alot of the 911 owners use.   so had all done inc belt and spart plugs, and a replacement lower suspension arm that had some play in it and came to £883.00 .

Thanks all, will let you know how the negotiation plays out. Cambridge being stubborn on not going below £1k currently which is a bit frustrating.  They did honour the 10% pcgb discount at my last service despite me not being a member so I will try the same approach...

My 981 is due a 6 year service in October so I’ve contacted 4 relatively local OPCs for quotations for the work. For the service, air filters, belt and brake fluid change I’ve been quoted prices between £1160 and £852 - that’s quite variation for the same work. So much so that I asked for a written breakdown for the job from the lowest to ensure all the items were covered.

No prizes for guessing which one I chose!

I'm struggling to get any quotes below £1000 for the 6 year service which sounds ridiculous and I've now contacted quite a few. @GladysFriday - where did you get a quote of £852 from if you don't mind sharing? Maybe message me if you'd rather not make it public. Thanks.

I've pm'd you Bob.

I had a 8 year major service on mine recently done by my local specialist (DoveHouse Motors).

Also had the extended warranty (it has recently expired) and they didn't charge extra for using Porsche genuine parts.

I got given a 1.0l Fiesta last time my car was in for work, and that was with 2 months notice.
