Roof repair (come unstuck)

Has anyone had this problem? The roof has come unstuck at back underneath the window. Gone very quick , the glass is surprisingly heavy and not helped. I live in Bristol and cant find anyone local to help. Has anyone had it repaired properly?  Dont fancy attempting myself as far too complicated to glue and hold with the glass.  Happy to drive a few hours to get it done properly, thanks

*Tried adding pic but phone pic too big..

I have this problem too. The fabric that tucks underneath has come away as the adhesive has basically degraded.

I have half a mind to fix myself by putting the roof in service mode and using some big bulldog clips to hold the fabric in place and apply a suitable adhesive. No sure what adhesive to use yet.

Are you guys talking about on the outside below the window, or on the inside? If its the outside and is the same problem mine had, I'll upload some photos of the repair i had done and try and dig out the repair shop info.

Outside fabric for me. Right on the edge or seam where it doubles back under by the edge of the clamshell. It causes the fabric to lose tension and the lower glass drops down/forward and the material rides up from the back. @Gutley did you write up a fix previously?

Ok - That sounds the same. Can't remember if I did a write up, but I may have some photos hanging around in Flckr ....

Here's a photo I found from July 2016:

If you look closely, you can see there is some stitching that perished over time due to the tightness of the fabric against the rubber edge. I got it repaired and restitched by a hood specialist in Oxsted - Oxsted Trimming Company https://goo.gl/maps/b6Stj8M4A1HDBToy6

The repaired stitching is more conspicuous than the original, but it has held up well. I'll try and take some photos tomorrow.

Yep, sounds exactly same, can only see old glue residue, no sign of any stitching. my car 2003 if that makes any difference

Thank you. Bit of a hike at 2.5 hours but will bear in mind

Have you tried B.A.S International they are only about 40mins away from you. They may possibly give you some advice.

Mines the same as yours @Gutley how much did it cost you to repair? I've found a couple of trimmers but not enquired as yet.

Cant remember @edc - I’d guess between £250 - £350. Mostly labour in removing the roof and reinstalling

BAS have said it's not possible to repair it.
New roof required which they can supply and fit for a grand, but not until April :(

'03 Boxster is listed in your My Ride, with glass window??  Didn't come in until '04 model year so August 2003 onwards manufacture.  Is it an after market hood or is you model year wrong or has it had on '04 hood fitted at a later date?

The glass roof was fitted to all facelift models, which I think came out in 2002.

Did you try an outfit like @Gutley has suggested? BAS I think aren't a trimmer / repairer.

It might be worth trying The Hood Guys in Birmingham (0121 444 2288) - www.thehoodguys.co.uk. I used them last year to replace a broken tension wire but they looked like they undertook all sorts of convertible hood repairs including trimming. I appreciate they aren't exactly local but definitely worth a phone call IMO.

Sorry, my error. I thought it was for the final '04 MY, but on checking the glass window came in from the 03 MY i.e. Aug 2002 manufacture onwards.
