zagamuffin
Posted this on another thread so thought I’d share my connundrum with ye and maybe get some “unbiased” opinions Watched the market hrly for two years and eventually got a GTS spec 981S for very good money private albeit with higher mileage, loved the car and drove mostly in manual between sport and sport plus.auto std for traffic crawling .I think if your asking you want it all so don’t compromise.I sold at market top and being patient waiting for the dip and opportunity to get back in and I’ll hold out for the “Perfect” car again. personnal but my must have options are really mostly only found in a GTS my problem is what car to go for as all have their own advantages be it cost of buying/ownership or driving enjoyment taking into consideration Irish import and road tax 🤮 981GTS @ 45k stg - e54k plus @ e15k to import and e750 yr road tax great chassis, best sounding of all three ,old infotainment, great looks, cheaperest to buy /run future classic 982GTS @ 60k stg - e71k plus @ e25k to import and e1200yr road tax Better chassis , better infotainment , not as good looking as 981 , better interior, flat four 🥺, more power, better tuning potential , sound 🦻🏻More modern car, smaller production run ? 982GTS4.0 @ 75k stg - e90k plus @ e35k to import and e2250 yr road tax very expensive to import/run , better engine ,more modern chassis , better brake , better infotainment, newer car, horrendous road tax yearly, horrendous import duty off quietens engine , n/a so no tuning really just as an fyi , we have to pat vehicle registration tax when importing a foreign reged car , Porsche as a specialist car isn’t on the revenue calculator so it’s a lucky dip on whet you will be charged 🤮🤮🤢🤐💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩 see here and play with the costs of another higher end sporty car if you want to feel better about living in the Uk https://www.ros.ie/evrt-enquiry/vrtenquiry.html?execution=e1s1
Gorsh
Wow - those charges are a tad steep! Surely there are Porsche available from local dealers saving the import costs - the annual road tax is almost prohibitive too on the newer cars unless you've got deep pockets! GTSMarky
Blimey! ..think I'd build a Caterham if that gives you any loop holes to exploit?
Menoporsche
If that was to me, I actually put a deposit down on a Caterham as my first car here, many years ago, but had to take it back as the authorities didn't have that model on their "approved list". GTSMarky
The 'kit' status maybe have an advantage in approvals & registering etc. Be a nice car in Portugal too!
