alank
Wow, what a difference. looking at my 8yr service on my 2013 S, 23000k miles. With Brake fliud change and Plugs Porsche Portsmouth £1161 inc E Porsch £ 960 inc Brookspeed £ 684 inc Philip Raby (emsworth) £ 576 inc ( they said they get service kit from porsche portsmouth !!, ) Precision Porsche £788 inc I asked why Philip Raby were cheaper and they said they only charge normal hourly rate, as others charge a service at an extra rate. Not a surprise.... Now to make a choice............
Skin
Are you still using the Porsche warranty?
alank
Not under the Porsche warranty, have another. Just not sure whether the OPC service is worth £585 more than the cheaper one
andygo
I wouldn't pay for the Porsche one, It's twice the price for the same parts. Why would you pay that? My porker has full OPC service, half the stuff on my 2013 CS is still original, although its getting changed by me when the weather warms up a bit. Whilst I appreciate that there isn't a lot of demand for rocket scientists in the UK, I'm not sure those qualified to be one actually end up servicing Porsches... (NB, no offence to Porsche techs, only joking. ) Edited January 10, 2022 by andygo
Greenman
Yeh, no way I would be paying OPC price if I didn’t have a Porsche warranty. I’d be double checking that the Raby price does include everything you want though.

When I got prices for my 2013 middle of last year I got this from the Service Dept of OPC Sheffield: "The 8 year service is £925.00 and this includes the spark plug change and brake fluid change." If you are thinking of using OPC then get a quote from another local'ish OPC even if you dont intend to use them to use as a bargaining chip. 2001pt
I’ve used Brookspeed for my last two services & would have no hesitation in recommending them 👍 Very helpful & thorough, they certainly know their porkers. Will be back there again next year for the 12yr
andygo
I changed the spark plugs on my dearly departed 987.2 last year. I think the plugs were £35 from Eurocarparts. Took me an hour tops to do it and it was my first time as well. Not sure why changing the spark plugs is seen as such a major "thing' in a service, it's a simple enough task. That Raby one seems very reasonable if it really does have everything included.

I think it's the fact that the motor is hidden away & access needs to be created being a big part of the hesitation to get stuck in. Having a 4 post lift would be handy for sure, but a set of axle stand pucks and a good trolley jack is all you need really.
r1flyguy
My local OPC add circa £400+ To the bill just for the spark plug change in the major (4 year) service 🙄

It won’t invalidate any existing warranty currently running, however you will probably not be able to extend the warranty when it expires without having an additional OPC service. alank
I've gone with the Brookspeed one in Chandlers Ford, Hants. £684, still better than £1161. I have not got a warranty to keep up.

Ah right, yeah in which case may as well stick with the OPC servicing then if the plan is continue with warranty extensions 👍

I am still with the OPC as I intend maintaining warranty cover, if I wasn’t I’d probably go with a specialist.
Paul P
When I took my warranty out initially the OPC told me there were "more things" I had to be compliant with to take out rather than renew.... The "take out" conditions were ( as we have discussed) owned for 3 months, pass the 111 check , most recent service done by OPC. - it may be that ( for example) previous service at OPC isn't a renewal requirement - I don't know that, I am just suggesting that if there are less strict rules on renew vs start from scratch then that may be the case. I know that in the post 1st lock down catch up, they were renewing WITHOUT requiring a 111 check, and I know of folks who have managed to get the 111 check (when it was required) negotiated as either cheaper or free when done WITH a service So, reckon its worth a call to your OPC to see what the renewal rules are - I looked and couldn't find anything publish from Porsche ( but then I can't find the owned for 3 months stuff anywhere). Just a thought.
