  1. I fitted BM Catalysts to ours after trying everything else to fix the same fault code as you.  Fitted them and fault code cleared.  From memory I was £300 for the pair and sold the originals for £170 to a scrappie. I went for type approval as I did want any hassle later on, but your car would need one thorough inspection for anyone to notice.

  2. Like the cross front I've gone a different way for the cross rear.  The passenger side grommet has two spare ways in it and the driver's side one had more than enough space for the pipe.  Did it in two pieces so I could get a better bend but if you were careful you probably don't need to.  Feed the pipe in from the drivers side if doing it one piece.  Used some double pipe clips to hold the two rear pipes together.  Ran out of P-clips and self tapping screws so still have the pipe in the boot to tidy up but I'm happy with how it looks.  I'll try and get more photos uploaded but ran out of space on this post.  Still got the old pipe to find at cut out.  I've got a glass window in the roof so access isn't brilliant.

  3. I could not get the front left to right pipe to go back into the awkwardly placed clips, no matter what i tried, it just kept popping back out.  The anti-roll bar fixings didn't look too keen to come out either.

Ended up routing the pipe under the windscreen scuttle and secured with rubber lined P-clips. On the driver's side I poked a small hole in the foam grommet the air con pipe goes through, and the passenger side it's gone under the screenwash filler pipe.

Just got the left/right rear to do and hopefully I'll be finished!

  4. In the middle of making mine just now.  Done near side front, half the near side rear, removed one of the long sections, away to remove the other.  Take your time and a get a small bending spring that slides along the pipe.  Tape the new one to the old as you go.

Actually popped on to see if anyone had managed to make the final connection to the calipers themselves as I can't get it bent and flared.  OPC it is!  Shame they're £25 each!

  5. Our 986 has just failed it MOT for the front/rear pipe leaking!  It was OK this morning, not a drip on the floor and pedal felt OK but it decided it was time to let go whilst on test :(  Very much leaking now.

Anyway, I'll be tackling this myself.  What diameter pipe do I need?

  6. Not all today, but over the last two weekends, fitted a new water pump, thermostat, poly belt, did three coolant flushes and refilled with coolant.  For anyone doing this, I only managed to get 16 of the 22 litres of coolant out of our 986S.  Had an idea to use our dog/car dryer to see if it would blow any more coolant/water out.  On it's lowest setting, it blew another 4 litres of coolant/water out!  Highly highly recommended.

Also found out the passenger side cooling fan is gubbed, the gearbox oil fill bolt is corroded (and will need bodged off) and the brake pad wear warning flashed up. Oh, more jobs ahead! 😬

Pretty sure mine was £60 a couple of years ago!

What was Salon Prive like? I've been thinking of going the last 2 years.

We went on the Sunday (the cheap day) and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  The 1300 Bentleys that turned up was fantastic along with all the Supercar stuff.  I felt it was well worth the £36 to get in.  The days earlier in the week were up to £600 to get in, no way I'd go to that, but we're thinking of going back next year to the Sunday event.  Cracking venue, no dress code, very relaxed, lovely bunch of people.

Same here. Plus gave the wheel arches a good clean. The coffin arms seem to double as gravel collectors too.... which is nice.

It's amazing stuff.  I've been using it since 2012 and it skoosh of Bilberry wheel cleaner and a hose down with the pressure washer is usually all that's needed to keep them clean :)

Are these bits in addition to what's on the bottom of the wheel arch liner?

Previous owner had an argument with a badger, so the offside wheel arch liner has the bottom bit missing, though I think the other side isn't complete either.?

I'll need to double check tomorrow.  I just noticed that the four bits I fitted were missing.

  10. The front of our car looked pretty tired, so I picked up a new front number plate mount for less than a tenner for Porsche in Perth, and fitted that with new cutdown but legal number plates (465x112mm) from Demon Plates front and rear.  Wow!  Can't believe how much of a visual difference a set of new plates has made.  It's taken years of the car from the scabby dealer plates that were on it.  Well worth £35.

  11. I've just fitted the under bumper air deflectors and rubber lips with new speed nuts and stainless steel screws.  Really simple job, only needs a PH2 screwdriver, 8mm socket and a torch 😀

Part numbers for anyone needing them:

    Deflectors - 996.504.503.00 & 996.504.504.00

    Rubber lips - 996.504.603.00 & 996.504.604.00

    No.10 (4.8mm) speed nuts (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163062187617)

    No.10 x 5/8" (4.8mm x 16mm) A2 flange head self tapping screws (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361063732473)

The plastics were £67.34 from OPC Perth and the fasteners were cheap off ebay.  You need 6 nuts and 6 screws.
