  1. Well after my question regarding whether aircon was desirable or not and all the enlightening answers, the car that question was related to sold before I got to view it 🙄. As luck would have it another 2.7 has come on the market which is unfortunately miles away but I’m happy to make the journey as it sounds good. My question which I’m sure has been answered many many times is does the 2.7 engine suffer less from the RMS/IMS issues than the 3.2? It’s a 2000 model if that makes a difference?

  2. That’s interesting. It’s fascinating to see what options first owners must have ticked when they ordered their car.  Heated elec seats, leather interior and white clocks but didn’t bother with aircon or Bose which seem to be the more popular options.

  3. Differing opinions which I’m glad to hear as I was worried it would be a blanket answer of aircon is essential. I’d only be using the car in the spring/summer and being up north of the border the extremely hot days are few and far between. I’m going to have a butchers at the car next week as it’s only 50 miles away. Next question for the gurus is why are some 2.7 clocks I’ve seen white and others are black?

    Doesn’t have it or doesn’t work. ?

if it doesn’t have it and you don’t want it - all good.

if it has it and it doesn’t work - then my ocd would be an issue - even if I rarely used it.  But “fixing it” and “it’s better than it was” is part of my thing so it would be a problem (or a target) for me.

    Doesn’t have

  5. As per title really. I’ve seen a 2004 2.7 986 advertised locally that is definitely worth a look in person but although it looks in good order on paper with low miles and owners (3) the spec isn’t huge. Has heated seats but no litronics or aircon. I’m thinking after the summer we’ve just had aircon would be a must but is it more trouble than it’s worth? Seem to be a few owners have to spend quite a bit to get theirs to work.
