  1. Hi

I have popped over from the 986 section as I currently have a 2003 986s.

My question relates to space in a 987, when this question get raised it seem to always be about leg room however I   am 6 2 and do not have a major problem with leg room with the seat fully back however with the seat in that position I cannot get the back of the seat tilted back enough and feel too upright. I have standard seats by the way I tried a couple with sports seats and that was worse.

My question is people say the 987 has more leg room but does this translate into been able to put the seat a little further forward to allow the back of the seat more tilt.

I probably need to go and sit in one and even drive one but would welcome anyone’s experiences.

Love  my Boxster but keep thinking and coming close to crossing to the 911 side. Help!!

  2. Yes the front facia PCB is the one I had to repair. Mine has never shut down at all. I was in the same position as you where the only way to play a CD was to eject it and push it back in. Now it is one push of the CD button plays the single CD and another press for the changer. Some of the other buttons don’t work either namely the TP one and number 2 on the station memory. My car has Bose fitted. Will pull out the stereo tomorrow and take some pictures of the connections and check under my drivers seat.

  3. I have a CDR23 with changer, had the same problem when I got the car the previous owner said the changer had never worked. Traced the problem to faulty tracks on the pcb, managed to fix them myself and it has worked ever since.

I will have my car out tomorrow will check the connections in the back and let you know.

  4. Hi

I had a similar problem with the CD button. If I put a CD in it would play fine but if I swapped back to radio the only way to get the cd to play again was to eject it and re insert the cd. My car also has a cd changed but I could not select it as the Cd button did nothing.

I decided to investigate and removed the stereo and I unclipped the front panel and then removed the printed circuit board. I found one of the copper tracks has corroded. It took me an age to do but I managed to solder a fine piece of wire on between the broken points and then put it back together and that fixed the CD button and also allowed me to select the CD changer.

Could be a similar problem with your button just depends how brave you are.

    Hope this helps.
