Was the re gassing done at Porsche ?

I am wondering if you have another issue - stuck flap motors, stuck fan or a temp sensor issue that is affecting a/c and as such is causing the stop/start issue (assuming the car was told a new battery had been fitted - otherwise it will behave like the old one was still there. )

as per suggestion in the thread the “good to know” app will list the stop / start parameters.  And I am pretty sure “roof up/down” on its own isn’t one of them

Yes it was at Porsche - as it was serviced there as well a couple of weeks ago they had a good investigation - then re gassed it again so it works now but they said that I could return for further checks at any time to check for leaks - they added extra dye so they could spot easier any leak but were satisfied there wasn't any. Thanks

  2. I have had recent issues with Start/Stop not working and was told that they thought the battery was a little low even though I've never had an issue so I replaced it. However the start/stop did not still work with the roof up which was strange as it worked with the roof down. Porsche insisted this was correct to which I disagreed. After leaving it a few weeks I realised the air con was not as cool as it should have been even though I'd just had it re gassed so it went back in where they re gassed it again and checked for leaks - none found.

On getting the car back - of course the Start/Stop worked with roof up as I expected - clearly the climate control was working hard to control the environment with roof up and it couldn't do it. With roof down its doesn't even try which is correct. Although the old battery was getting on I do believe this cost me an unnecessary battery but regardless of this it may give you another angle to think about.

My stop/start in the cold weather never works, I put it down to the state of the battery I think mine is on it's last legs now anyway, (2012) on short trips it never works but as soon as I go on a nice long run it works fine, as said above I'm not to worried about this function other than it drops the cost of your road tax some.

    Guvs.

Thanks - equally apart from Stop/start my battery seemed fine, Just as it was there and a suspicion I decided to replace and save on hassle later - If original yours is impressive - Porsche quoted me average life span of 4-5 years...

I’d say you have nothing to worry about. As you say. Stop/Start function is affected by many things eg Sport mode on Stop/Start function disabled. So the fact it’s not working with climate control on is purely down to a sensor picking up additional draw on the battery so it’s just protecting the battery from excessive draw. But I’m no expert 👍

Think I need to test it further - thanks

Stop start logic is based on state of charge of the battery.  The car tries to predict if it has enough to start the car and seems to be quite pessimistic about it.

my daily driver takes a decent commute to decide its ok to start stop after a few days of short runs and things like climate control (especially if it’s on “very cold”’will effect it. )

i assume it was an OPC that You were dealing with.  As such I would expect them to have told the car the battery had been swapped (it’s often overlooked or dismissed as “not needed” ) but does affect the calculation of the state of charge.

They were specific about how long it takes to code the new battery in so I hope so - thanks

  6. Hello - Although Ive been browsing this site for a while I haven't posted for a long time and indeed since I upgraded from a 987 Gen2 to the 981S, but my car was subject recently to the Porsche well documented recall and since collection of this and on the drive back from the dealership I noticed that the boot light not working, a gearbox amber fault displayed and the start stop not working when climate is running.

Its been back in to have the faults checked and the boot light wasn't connected (I think they removed the boot cover material for the recall and forgot to reconnect when it was reinstalled and they apologised for that so all good here), they recalibrated the gearbox which I did not understand why (this was no charge and something they say can happen but It was still surprising) but  re the start stop they  believed the battery voltage was low. Now the car is kept on a trickle charger (Ctek MXS5.0) and was showing full charge on this device but in between leaving my garage and being at the dealership they noticed a lower voltage which could be affecting the stop start. As the battery is the original (2014 car) I can understand that issues could be starting with this so after haggling I got them to replace the battery. However on the way back from the dealership (approx. 15 miles) I noticed the stop start still not operating when the climate is running.

I know many of you hate stop start and may not be bothered if it never worked again but I like things to work as they should, so I would be interested to know  whether you have noticed your stop start not operating at this time of year. I do understand that this function does depend on many factors but after 15 miles of driving (roof up) I would have thought it should work as it does in the other cars I have. When the roof is down I turn off climate and it works but I'm trying to recall whether it was always like this or whether something has happened in the recall.

Any views are most welcome. Thanks
