These were the codes
P0440, P0302, P0301 and P1341
-
Interesting...one of the codes was for tank vent system, is that the aos? the car has been running absolutely fine. After I cleared the codes I started it up and put it in the garage, it wasn't running great when I switched it off but I haven't started it again for fear of doing damage.

So maybe onto ebay at £2k starting?
-
So circa £1-1.5k?

Hi all, sounds like my car has a variocam solenoid or actuator issue and it's going to cost more than I can spare at the moment. Can you give me an idea of value and if ebay would be the best option.
2000 W reg 2.7 manual, 99k miles, black with 18" 5 spoke alloys, interior is nice. Not a massive amount of history but had a clutch about 30k ago and I serviced it when I bought it 2 years ago. I have done 3k since I got it.
Got home yesterday and the cel came on and the codes suggest the above issue as Trooper has suggested.
Cant say how gutted i feel at this.
Even just a ballpark would help for now.

I found a blown fuse, replaced it and tried my old unit and it worked. I have asked the ebay seller for a refund now as the unit is the issue. Thanks BBB for getting back to me.
-
Odd that it was working and then when I unplugged it and put it back it has stopped.
-
I have just checked d6 and e7 fuses and they are fine. I don't understand how to check for 12v?

Guys, I took the old climate/heater control out to replace it with a 2nd hand part from ebay. When I plugged the new one in and put ignition on nothing happened. So I tried the old one again and nothing is happening with that now either. I was changing it as the screen wS knackered. I have only removed the 4 plugs from the back of it, have I done something wrong?

Is there a how to for the indicator not cancelling fix?
-
Do you have to go to the dealership to register or can a phone call sort it?
-
Can you tell me where that valve is?

Just re-insured my 2000 2.7 for £156 with Carole Nash. Was over £300 last year but the car is now in the garage. I'm 50 with zero ncb as I have been a company car driver for years and last years insurance was a classic car policy.

Did you guys make your own pipes? I would need to buy them from a factor's.
-
Had my car mot'd and advisories for corroded front and rear brake pipes were noted. Has anyone replaced these themselves and is it a easy enough job on the driveway? I have done brake pipes before on other cars years ago and it didn't seem too terrible.

Would have thought that would have shown up on the scanner. Mine is a 2000, do you know if that has 2 or 4?
-
Car starts and runs fine burt at tickover the revs fluctuate a little bit, maybe less than 100rpm but it is noticeable. I cleaned the old maf when this issue was worse and it got to this point. I have now replaced that maf with a bosch part and it's still the same. The scanner doesn't highlight anything. Is it now likely to be coil packs?

I agree, 29 looks really low for the front, I thought they looked flatish.

What pressures are recommended for 18s on a 986 guys? Purely road use.
-
Thank you
-
Do you have a link to them ad I can't find them for a 986?
-
I had Autoaid earlier this year and scrapped them when they wouldn't attend my car as it was over 15 years old. I joined AA and they attended no problem.
How much is my car worth with this engine issue

Is it easily identifiable to find the wiring to check?
