I have one - took a few months to settle down, little boom/resonance between2k and 3k revs but sounds awesome, def lets the engine rev faster, easier
-
Just had the 987.1 3.4 BS back from La Rose in Sevenoaks. I had a snapped rear spring and I had already grabbed a set of HR 10mm lower springs from the cheap offer on here (last year?)
Anyway...
New coffin arms, couple of drop links, B4s and HR springs. Wheel alignment.
Results are good. Rides much better than it did - less crashy, better damped, barely lower, better body control, little, little bit stiffer. Recommended.
Also had a remap - mainly because 'it was in there anyway', and i had a startup/cat CEL that popped up every 6 weeks or so after getting the spyder exhaust fitted about 6 months ago - so wanted to get that cleared, which (hopefully) the remap will take care of. Possibly runs a little smoother - very very subtle TBH.
Anyway - suns out - roof down - big smile - life is good

Did anyone fit these yet (there was a link last year for a cheap price - mine are still sitting in the box)
Wondering if anyone has fitted yet and how you found them? what shocks did you use (if changed) and did you do top mount, coffin arms drop links etc?
Thanks guys

PS4s - had them on my last one - amazing feel, grip, wet, dry all good.
Have uniroyal rain sports on my current (came on car) will be upgrading these shortly for olive oil covered WD40 soaked sponges to improve performance.

I have spyder switchable on my 987.1 3.4 - it does drone/boom between 2k and 3k which is not pleasant - sounds great above 4k.
I had carnewal on my prev 3.4 - preferred the sound of this to the spyder - no drone, slightly less bass, slightly quieter but more expensive sounding. Carnewal GT with a GT4 end tips i think would be perfect.

I applied Polytol in the autumn and it came up lovely.
Plenty left in the sample pot for further applications.

Also an indication of how 'summer' tyres get in sub zero temps... Even the normally good and grippy Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2s I have fitted are pretty poor at the moment.
From memory - notoriously unreliable - the PS4s on the last one - exact same car - were way better*
*not financial advice

made it to work and home again - in the cold -1 ish... on Uniroyal Rainsports - that the car came on. Hard to find the vocabulary to describe how shockingly shyatee they are - can't tell if i'm on sheet ice or cold tarmac, zero feedback. slides from both ends - horrible - and they're practically new... 😬

Interested in real world thoughts. I'm trying to choose between getting a non-valved catback (Borla/Cargraphic) vs a valved one for my 987.2. Coming from a Mustang with Borla exhaust im not sure whether I would actually close the valves much.
getting used to it, pretty much left it open all the time, not really louder at low revs and sounds better above 4k.
If i was starting again tbh i would go carnewal again like i had on my last one, similar loudness, less drone, slightly higher pitched.

I think @Macus is correct as mine sounds distinctly different (quieter) with the valves closed. They default to valves open when you start the engine (as there is no vacuum) but should quieten down as the valves close when you press the remote button.
yep getting used to it, definitely quieter with valves closed. fitted the remote in the ashtray with a bit of foam. will post some pics later.

Thanks for the replies guys - i spoke to them - they said reset it and see if it pops up again. if so then take it down for them to check over which seems fair. fingers crossed it will settle but i keep the thread updated. 🙏

I think this error code is cumulative - so it needs to happen a number of times/for a % of engine runtime before it triggers a CEL. If that is the case it's quite possible you'll see the CEL and this error code again.
Oh 🙁
Likely cause would be O2 sensor? Air Leak? Or actually running slightly lean?

Too lean = too much air. So given the work you've just had done check for any leaks post pre cat lambda but before post cat.
will do - only had it once on 8 journeys after the new exhaust - hopefully was an aberration but will feedback here.
Thanks Bro

Got this CEL the other night just as car came up to temp.
Reset it via the OBD - took it for a spin next day and no CEL
Recently had the spyder valvetronic exhaust fitted.
Anyone got any thoughts on the cause Plz?

think its under that little red cover top Right

If you pull the fuse cover in the drivers footwell theres a little charge point - i think its top R of the fuse panel - if you have a battery booster - you touch the positive (I think) on the little copper plate and hit the bonet release - magic!

Ive got the Spider Valvetronic I really like the closed sound but I rarely use the open - when I fitted mine I just couldn't get the valves to close under vacuum.
Turns out one of the vacuum lines under the intake had come off - maybe you're having the same problem?
Daniel
interesting. Open and closed doesn't sound much different, open is actually slightly better I think - less boom more gritty. I will do a proper listen over the weekend.
I'm already getting used= to it today, just need to be a little less lazy with leaving it in a higher gear and just squeezing the throttle through 2-3000rpm.
Will keep everyone posted.

Mine isn’t a valved version-madman all the time😎😎 I love it
to be honest when I first fitted it I thought oh no what have I done!!
But the more miles I do it seems to tone it down a bit. Can’t fault it-sounds great, much lighter than standard and very easy to fit .
give yours a hundred miles or so and see if if you notice a difference.
Thanks bro - i'll do exactly that!

Got my MOT done finally!!
what a relief- emissions were spot on with my new Topgear exhaust.the original exhaust was like a patchwork quilt and failed on high lambda reading.
and I got a refund from PayPal for the terrible toyosport exhaust that simply was never ever going to fit.
😀
How are you finding the top gear exhaust mate? I think it's gonna be similar to the spyder performance one I got fitted today - Seems pretty loud - even in quiet mode!
