  1. Finally went to see this car….looks straight bodywork looks original. The only faults I could find were the roof pops out of the trim above the windows on both sides when closed, bonnet release switch doesn’t work, ac doesn’t work. Service book looks upto date, OPC upto 2011 and Indy there after. Looks as though only minor services since 2011. Unfortunately no receipts indicating what’s been done. Contis all round and tread 4-6mm…. Wheels just refurbished. Seats in good nick with tidy side bolsters. Ac buttons look new. Slight squeal from drive belt on startup. No evidence it’s ever been changed. No residue inside oil and water caps…both look really clean.  Car drives well no clonks from suspension. Clutch nice and light. Any thoughts?

I don't see how if car is clean, dry and waxed. Admittedly I am very fastidious in my cleaning regime when covering and storing (the cover)

Your probably right but the inside of the car cover must also be free of any contamination.....I found the whole process too much especially if you want to use the car occasionally in winter......

Does it have the options you want? I couldn’t make out the centre dash. Heated seats?

It’s got heated seats and PASM….that’s about it. TBH I’m not very needy in terms of options….what I really want is telephone prep and DAB which wasn’t really available then…

  4. Been to see the car. Overall it’s pretty much as described. The wheels look original but have been powder coated. Tyres are new Goodyears all round. Drives well…clutch is nice and light but gear selection is not as positive as it could be..could be a sign that the cables need replacing or adjusting? Bodywork looks straight and paintwork is good although it has had some paint on the offside wing. Interior is nice except for some ware on the drivers side bolster…..no hole yet. All electrics work as they should except AC…could be a re-gas but there is quite a lot of compost around at the base of the condensers. Hood works fine but doesn’t always automatically set in the plastic channels above the doors when closed. Engine sounds tappety on startup but clears when warm….no clonks or rattles from the front or rear when driving so arb droplinks, coffin arms and tension struts appear good. Brakes work fine but discs are shot so will need replacement.  Coolant leak advisory at the last MOT hasn’t been addressed. Inspection of coolant and oil filler caps shows no sign of contamination. All carpets are dry so no signs of water ingress.

The BRAKES corrode on the inner face especially on the front for some reason but not a expensive job, the parts can be bought for circa £200. That’s a 987.1 not a 987.2 as it’s right on the change over registration. If you can afford it go for a 987.2, it’ll cost you a few thousand more but it’s a much better car with the newer engine and more modern touches inside and out

Looking around the adds gen 2 987 is nearly double the price….🤦‍♂️

Check the mot advisory’s have been done - coolant pipes are best part of £800 and could need new discs and pads all round - check the backside of the discs as they rot there before the front face

Noticed the advisories related to the breaks….didn’t see anything related to the coolant pipes….did I miss something?

I think the tide is beginning to turn. From the highest quote a mth ago WBAC quote has now gone 1k lower. Still considerably  more than I paid last July but my experience is the tide is turning 👍 All pretty irrelevant  anyway

    WBAC are now at £33350…….

did you wash the car before covering EACH AND EVERY TIME?

If it was a nice day and just took the car for a spin around the block probably not. Your right though….you probably need to wash the car every time regardless of how far you have been or what the weather was like. I also suspect that you need to launder the car cover as well to get rid of any dirt/dust that may have accumulated on the inside….

  9. I had a genuine Porsche one and still ended up with plenty of marks at touch points across the car….would rather leave it to the elements than go down that route again.

  10. Bought a 20 plate m135i yesterday for £31k. For a laughing I thought I’d see what Evans Halshaw would give me for it. They have just offered £31850….Also,  sold my 220d Active Tourer to them last week for £700 less than I paid them a year ago even though I’ve put £25k miles on it…..The world has gone mad….!🥴🥴🥴

  11.  I’m not convinced that you can diagnose little end bearing failure without stripping the engine down however I can’t help thinking that if there isn’t much wrong with it a dealer would sort it....a gearbox from the scrap yard is.  £250 and a set of coil packs is only a couple of hundred....
