Well I didn't buy anything myself, these are indie prices. Yes the dampers are Bilstein. A smidge over £1900 total, £1100 for parts.

If my %age maths is out you'll have to forgive me - I'm busy drowning my sorrows :)

My mistake - £917 for parts.

    :hic:

    OUCH!

I'd got that as about £800-900 in parts (assuming you bought known equivalent Bilstein dampers and coffin arms and not original Porsche parts at £300 per coffin arm). And about 8-10 hours labour if working off a ramp and with experience of having done it a few times so I'm maybe a bit under depending on the hourly rate, but £2200???

Had the front PU resprayed, had a split in the paint from a minor nudge the PO had given it and it wasn't a good match in colour on my Arctic Silver 986.  Now a good match.  I had it done by a guy who does custom and restoration paint, not accident repairs so his shop is less busy getting cars back on the road in thin margins from insurers but still a fair price at £200 plus VAT.

Given I've just been quoted £570 to get the front bumper painted I'd say very fair.

Can you accumulate NCB on a second car? I’ve had classic car insurance for the past 11 years and never accumulated any NCB due to it being added on my daily driver.

Yes you can. Classic policies don't usually accrue NCB. It's not because they're a second policy, it's because they're a classic policy.

Sounds amazing. I have the Revolution internal mod which is similar to the Carnewal. Looks like this is an external bypass?

Any chance of you posting a demo of your Revolution mod? I'm weighing up getting this done vs Carnewal.

    Hi all,

I took my 987.1 out for its first real run in my ownership today with the roof down - noticed the wind deflector glass section is a bit rattly. Is this normal, or some kind of connection that I might need to fix/replace?

    Thanks!

Normal, but easily fixed by sticking a couple of small adhesive felt pads (such as you buy for ornament bases and furniture legs) just under the top clips.

Quoted £808 which could have been worse I suppose.

This is the second Boxster I’ve had this happen on, is it common or am I just ‘lucky’ 🤔

I gather it's generally regarded as a 'when' not 'if' problem, so yes very common.

The cables aren't mega money - OEM are £325 at Design911 (probably similar at your OPC parts counter).  Needless to say an indie would swap them out for less than your OPC quote.

  8. Got my wheels powder coated after a tyre fitter gouged chunks out of a couple of them the other week. They didn't need it but I did the other two as well just to make sure they were all the same finish. All in all it made it an expensive set of new tyres, even with the fitter paying for two of the wheels.

Drove home and the wheels haven't been properly balanced so it'll have to go back, which is a right fek-on as it's 10 miles away. Grrr.

for the gen2 - GT exhaust cost me 1039 Euros (inc additional clamps and bolts supplied by Carnewal)

500 euros will be refunded once my exhaust goes back and is inspected.

ePorsche charged me 2 hours labour at £75/h +vat

total cost is somewhere around £750

smiles on my face = £priceless

It's how a Boxster should sound!

    Good info, thanks!

It is the little details that matter ,when I bought my car ,it was missing the wind  deflector .

attachment was there .Managed pick up pristine one for £49 from eBay which  it i thought was good

A couple of small adhesive felt pads (the sort for furniture feet etc) just under the top clips will stop the inevitable rattling.

Editing a post after posting only to justifie yourself, Perhaps you belong on Pistonheads after all.☺️

I have done no such thing, as anyone who can read timestamps will be able to see (not that I expect anyone to care so this will be my last post on the subject, with apologies to all).
