Thanks for the reply. I had been advised by someone in the trade with Porsche knowledge that I should be aiming for £6.5k which I thought was rather/very optimistic. I realise that I am never going to get back anything like what I have spent on the car, I treated it as hobby project. I will get all the info together and get an ad posted.

Impending shoulder surgery means that its time to consider selling my Boxster. I have done less than 9k miles since I got the car 4½ years ago, COVID did not help.
I have done a lot on the car probably too much but I like to do things properly – blame the 993 mindset. It has been serviced by Sam Lander Porsche who have an excellent reputation and look after my 993.
I had wanted an early Boxster and it took me a while to find a good one. It is just under 114k miles currently and I like to think it is good condition with an extensive service history.
Looking at the current market it seems like there is quite a range. Any idea where I should pitch the price and where would be the best places to advertise – I would like to avoid timewasters but I guess that will be inevitable.
Thanks for any help.

Major service & MOT - no advisories! Probably last time as looking to sell in Spring, is it allowed on the Forum to ask about pricing?

I used the 14cm ones. Worked a treat.
I just couldn’t bring myself to spend over 25% of what I paid for the car on an exhaust.
Thanks for that, I will get them ordered.

After 6 months Mrs. T has had enough of the drone from the “Chinese” exhaust, so I am going to try drone killers. There are two sizes, approx. 8 or 14cm long in the 48mm diameter listed on eBay.
I realise this will not be a perfect solution, what size has worked best?
Thanks

New box fitted & passed MOT. Yes, it does sound a little cheeky. I will see if it calms down with use. Back up plan is to get the seems on the old one repaired, now need to find a friendly stainless steel welder.

Well, I went for the Gravity Performance exhaust & it should be delivered to my indie shortly. I will post an update when I get the car back.

I saw that one in Wakey. Pretty close to me but it looks fairly well used with some dents. I need to get the MOT sorted then I can see if I can do anything with the original box. Thanks for the suggestion.

This could be fun!

Yes, I realise it will be louder than the standard exhaust. I cannot justify spending 1k on an OEM box – the car was a bit of an impulse hobby purchase. If possible, I will get the old one welded up.
Our small town has a rather older demographic and even being in our early 60s we are seen as youngsters on our road. My 993 has a rather distinctive sound so I try to leave & return cautiously. Mind you, an ex neighbour (older than me) used to give his Cayman some beans (from cold!) and a friend opposite asks me if I have had a good drive when I have been out for an early morning summer run in the 993.

Thanks for the replies. I have had a look at the Top Gear exhaust. It looks like the Gravity Performance one with the addition of the heat shields.
I am down to choosing between the Toyosports & Gravity boxes & deciding do I pay an extra £70 for the welded tips? -
I am outside Leeds. Thanks for the offer but I have just about convinced myself to get a new box & try to get the seams on old one welded at my leisure. How do you get on with the Toyosport? They are the best price, but I was not sure about the clamp on tips.

Unfortunately, I need an exhaust asap. The Gravity Performance one looks favourite at the moment.

So, best option go for the cheapest?
-
Looks like I need a new exhaust to get through the MOT. Looking to minimize expenditure as this is my runaround & I have already had to replace the cats. Owning a 993 I am used to a reasonably loud exhaust but want to keep the neighbours on side.
There seem to be many similar boxes on eBay at varying costs. Any recommendations on which one to go for?
Many thanks.
Thinking of selling

Thanks for the input and your kind words Steve.
I would like to think the car is worth £6.5k, what prospective seller wouldn’t and I know how much I have put into the car – maybe too much? But the market decides and a car is only worth what a seller will pay.
Now I am thinking of £5750 and if I can’t get close, I will keep the car. My problem is I don’t like selling cars – under 10 years is short term ownership but the shadow of the shoulder is making me seriously consider my options. If I am honest the car is not getting enough use even now.
So, its back to pondering & trying to put off my shoulder op. The surgeon who did my accident repairs said he would see me in 10 years for a replacement. That was 19 years ago but I have felt it getting worse the last few winters as the weather changes.
Right, better pull my finger out and do some work on an ad.
