I have fitted a Sony XAV 550d https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/xav-ax5550d  to my now departed 987.2 and current 991 Cayman.

Whilst you can get the Carplay  mod done to your standard fit Porsche unit, it will still be in low res and part of a dated looking unit. The Sony has modernised both interiors andalso has the advantage of DAB.

In my 997.2 I sold the standard unit for the price of the Sony unit, so pretty much cost neutral.

My old 997.2 with Sony unit: https://www.maundrells.co.uk/vehicle/porsche-cayman-s-pdk-in-oxfordshire-5e1843ab-e90d-4693-9fff-e858af14a0f6

I had that head unit in my old 987.2 as well. A very good head unit, really easy to use and it sounded great. Really liked it.

Don't know if you've factored it , Design911 website prices generally are quoted ex VAT.

Yeah thanks for that, I have added the VAT to Design911. I did notice they actually have a toggle on the top of their website now where you can change currency, but also change between exc. and inc. VAT.

It's bad really, a retail website should always include VAT.

Your red one was the car I regret not going for last year. It was a great price then and with hindsight, an absolute steal. Still, always had COVID redundancy fear.

Yeah, my red car was absolutely beautiful. I saw it advertised a while back actually, for about the same money I sold it for I think.

That said, I love my GTS!

  4. Saw this listed today on Autotrader.

It's got to be a real rarity to find one with pretty much every option. Not sure I've ever seen one with so many options fitted. My last red one had pretty much everything, but no carbon ceramic brakes.

    This one has:

    Sport chrono

    PASM

    PSE

    PTV diff

    Carbon ceramics

    Extended leather

    Heated electric seats

    Dual zone climate

    Bose, PCM etc

Expensive, but a great car for someone looking for all the options!

Very nice......the seatbelts and red dial are part of the GTS interior pack........for the analy retentive the GTS interior pack red dial is "better" than the red dial option for none GTS cars as that gives you two red dials but the right hand LCD dial obviously remains black which looks unbalanced.......the GTS pack just having the centre red dial is much more aesthetically pleasing 😉

....some aftermarket add ons......the red line under the GTS door script, red front splitter and rear spoiler, are they originals wrapped or new parts ?

Yes, well spotted. The previous owner personalised the car with some vinyl touches. Red stripe under the standard GTS lettering on the doors, red pinstripes on the daytime running lights, and the front splitter. The front splitter is standard, just with a red stripe. Although the car also came with a white spare one too.

The rear spoiler is wrapped in black vinyl, with the red pinstripe added.

  6. Hi,

Thought I'd share some photos of my latest arrival. After owning a red 981 Boxster a few years ago, then moving to a Mercedes AMG GT-S, then a 987 Gen 2 Boxster S, I'm finally back in a 981. This time it's a really special GTS. I'm really pleased with it so far. Loving the way it drives.

As soon as I saw it come up for sale privately, I jumped on it. It's a great spec, including:

X73 Sports suspension in lieu of PASM

    PTV torque vectoring with LSD

    Carrera Classics 20" wheels

    Carbon folding bucket seats

GTS interior pack with red stitching

    PCM with DAB and Bose

    Plus lots more!

A real drivers spec with the PTV, X73 and carbon buckets.

    A few photos for you:

for the gen2 - GT exhaust cost me 1039 Euros (inc additional clamps and bolts supplied by Carnewal)

500 euros will be refunded once my exhaust goes back and is inspected.

ePorsche charged me 2 hours labour at £75/h +vat

total cost is somewhere around £750

smiles on my face = £priceless

It's how a Boxster should sound!

I'm interested in his exhaust modification too.

I was also looking at other options, such as the Cayman R exhaust, which is a larger diameter pipe, with his modification carried out. But does the Cayman R use the same cats/manifold as the Boxster?

I'm thinking I'll fit sports cats. Not sure whether to go with Top Gear at £1,300, or Carnewal at €1,095. If I went with the Top Gear option, I feel like they're better manifolds, and I could sell my standard ones to recoup some of the cost back.
