Help needed
in 981
Hi all Help needed. I have just changed my battery from the original lead acid battery to an AGM Bosche battery. Does anyone in Oxfordshire have a PIWI system and know how to update the battery settings please.
-
Hi thanks I’m hoping that it will free once the battery is charged
-
Only issue now is that the key is stuck in the ignition. Hopefully once the battery is charged it will release. Have connected up to my Noco battery charger overnight.
-
Bingo I’m in required brute force
-
Thanks for replay. Seems that whatever way I turn it nothing happens

Help I have. Flat battery on my 981. Can’t even open the door. Have tried the emergency key but don’t seem to work.
Any advice would be. Godsend
Thanks

Kev62 - Who did your PDK oil change?, following official guidance mines not due for 4.5years/80K, but I'm not happy to leave it that long (Local indy to me RPM, are virtually the same price as Silverstone OPC!)
Hi Stu my indi Right Tune in Wallingford Oxon done it they recommended that whilst the Porsche guidance states the quoted interval they recommend intervals if 6 years. I decided to go with the earlier change in the basis is it’s cheaper than gearbox problems. If you need any further info give me a shout

Recently got Porky back from having new condensers fitted. Also had the PDK gearbox fluid changed. £750 lighter but a great job done and in now have working air conn again. Now fitting intake mesh to protect new condensers.

Many thanks Daz much appreciated
Hi Daz re the front grill covers. I am in the process of fitting some to my 981 2013 model. Re the painted fins in the front grills, I can remove the outside of these and the centre clips but cannot seem to get the thicker end inner connections to come away. Are there any hidden clips that require parting you video just shows that you pull them from the centre but I am almost pulling to breaking point and no joy.
any advice gratefully received.

Hi
I also have the same cover for my Boxter do you wash the car before putting the cover on ??
thanks for any feedback
I too use this cover on my 981 and so far have no issues the cover is very well made and easy to fit. Although it’s a bit bulky to store when removed but I guess that’s because of its quality

I use a Halfords All Season Car Cover on my Mini. It has a soft lining and the car has a gloss black roof which would show any scratches. All good so far. I find it quite satisfying to wipe the bird mess off the cover and not ingrained into the car's paintwork!

I think I've mentioned it in another post but I can't recommend this Half Cover enough. It's proved it's fully waterproof over the last few months, and so easy to fit in a minute. I've added a couple of loops so I can tie it in the middle( small rope running under car and picking up loop on other side) after folding in the mirrors. With this done it is very stable in strong wind and does not flap about due to the corners being fixed by elastic straps down to wheel spokes.
It is a SUMEX Premium Semi Cover,. SMALL size. Was about £20 last time I looked on AMAZON.
Attempt to uploadSUMEX Cover, Small ttps://imgur.com/gallery/sMbkbWah a photo
Thank you very much I will look at this one 👍👍

Kev it's a common issue they are very exposed to stones and the ducts collect debris that corrode the pipes. I'd say you've done well for them to last 8yrs.
Mine were changed under warranty at around 5 yrs and 25k on it but if a stone has hit the condenser that's just bad luck in my opinion.
Most of us have taken steps to protect the area with mesh, check out my 981 maintenance video on YouTube if you haven't already.
Hi daz
guess your right everything I read says that. I’m having both replaced, only one is leaking but with front coming off I’ll get both done. Also intend fitting some additional mesh while the nose is off.
do you have. Link to your utube vid
cheers

Gas leak
My 981 2.7 2013 is one fantastic car love every minute of driving it. However after only 36,000 miles full service history the air conn gas is escaping. Turns out one of my condensers in the front is leaking. IMO for a car of this quality to have a failed condenser after 8 years and 36,000 miles is poor. Have Porsche fitted low quality parts?? Anyone else suffered similar failures???

Good luck looks like an interesting project

Thanks to all for their help. I will update my post once the coding has been completed. For the record I have fitted the Bosh AGM battery which replaced the original OEM lead acid battery and I have had no faults as yet.
