got all the coolant pipes delivered (£650+ worth) to start the swap over on my .1
-
thats the bad one.
the aluminium pipes need replacing. Subframe dropped sort of job. I've got to do it on mine as the leak is in the same place

took mine for MOT after doing the oil and plugs, its been stored, but started regularly for the last 18 months.
started spluttering on the way to the MOT, even with fresh fuel, and thought i mustnt have done something up properly reinstalling the plugs. Engine warning light on, and its a fault of cylinder no.4
new coil packs ordered.
spotted oil on the intake pipe, new AOS ordered.
got rust on the brake lines, new braided hoses ordered, and i'll pop the covers off to look at the rest.
and then, the mot tester pointed out a leaking coolant pipe on the offside. That wasnt leaking when it was up on the ramps. Trying to bring myself to book it in to have the crossover pipes done... with my wifes 40th next week, and no hoiday booked for the kids for the second year in a row....

next size up torx bit smashed in is how i got mine out after the previous owner did it too tight. You will more than likely end up sacrificing the torx bit as well! mines still well stuck in, so its an ornament now.

watch your eyes when changing them, they are a massive pain in the ar*e. Even with the right tools.

its shyate when this happens, hopefully it will get sorted relatively quickly, and result in a better job than the approved guys did on mine. twice..
-
re-used on the rears here as well.
-
its UV that does it, you need a UV protectant on it after polishing.

i always use brembo oem style from euro car parts

i'll probably do it at some point, but it will be along with headers, exhaust and a remap to make the most out of it.

Funnily enough, just insured mine with Churchill too @ £207 fully comp for the year. Worth noting that's with my Mrs on the policy. Taking my Mrs off the named drivers added £40 to the premium! 😐
really???!?? may add her to the policy then, shes not on it atm!
-
you may, its with Churchill.
I used to be with a specialist Porsche insurer, and that went t*ts up when i needed to claim against a non fault accident. Been with Churchill since, for all our cars, and theyve been great, even in an accident for the wifes car.

got my insurance renewal through, happy as its dropped £60 to £166 fully comp
happy with that

any change being left in the car? My old C70 volvo went nuts if you left change in the dash well for it. reflecting sensors or summat they reckoned!

carbon always looks a bit tacky/wannabe unless you have a GT2/3/4 whereas extended leather adds that extra bit of class and style to the bits you see and touch. No wood trim thanks 😂
I'm with you on that, i think the only things i'd do are the key barrel ring thingy, the thin silver bit between the centre console and dash bottom, and the caps on the windwscreen interior parts.
on the outside in carbon all i want to do is the front rear mudguards. done.

I was thinking over the weekend what would make me keep my (lack of use) 987,1 and got to thinking what the ulitmate OEM+ car would be, I have a massive spec car to start with, with a fresh respray
as I have a GT Silver car, I think RS60 Red roof, and 'some' red highlights inside would be nice (red stitching on stone leather seats) the RS60 interior is just too much in my eyes
a few carbon trims,
alcantara gaiter boots, and armrest, handbrake, all stone grey with red stitching
solid seat backs, in either carbon, or GT silver, along with the GT silver centre console (already got the centre console)
GT silver side vents (already done this)
all red taillights
shortened rear numberplate recess
gloss black scuttle
spyder tailpipes
red dials on the speedo etc.
Spyder wheels, 25mm lowering?
Swtichable exhaust
and maybe some engine upgrades, plenum, TB, de-cats etc.
what would you guys do? or what would be your ultimate spec?

colour matches on old cars are difficult without blending. a bumper would have been a panel off job.
i ended up having my whole car resprayed as it had had different bits done over the years and was a different colour on just about every panel (gt silver)
-
decided I really do need to sell mine...
-
urghhhh, dont even start on insurance jobs if you wanna see the saga I went through........
-
Im pretty sure Im with churchill now after getting F'd over by a porsche specialist, who I had an absolute nightmare with a few years back. Best insurance company I ever had was Direct line, 3 non fault accidents in one year, and they were great everytime ( that was a few years back though)
-
Never heard of them. if you can, get hexis, 3M, KPMF etc. they're less likely to yellow as they're known brands.
-
vinyl companies wont warrant it with washing up liquid. where as pros use baby shampoo. I use it for window tinting as well.
as started above you can use the gel, but its insanely expensive for small areas.

i know that fella, im an approved PPF installer 😀

mine could be for sale for the right price
have a pile of parts already bought to be fitted, just dont have the time, only done 30 miles since the respray, so its pretty immaculate. high spec, low tax, 67k miles. has been rear ended and fixed though. Ive just bought another car, so could do with selling this really. Passed its last MOT not long ago with some advisories.
