  1. interesting - I have the same on front left wheel area - but it goes away when wet. I thought it was water getting into a seal/bushing/joint and 'lubricating' so to speak, then when its warm and dries out, it squeaks again. I can replicate mine on a dry day with a firm shove on the top of the front left wing - good shove and I hear the same squeak. After rain I don't.

So I figured it's a bushing, and given it's still on original suspension haven't bothered about it as it's pretty minor.

Interested to hear what yours is in the end.

  2. late 2011 987.2 here that I think is a keeper - low miles, great spec and well cared for. But then again I've said that about lots of other cars and sold them for something else eventually. Have had this longer than many though and for the price/performance/usability there isn't anything out there to touch it. So who knows...

  3. got mine via OPC - well worth asking them - and they won't c*ck-up the fitting as some others will do.

would avoid the bridgestones - I had them before and they were ok but not great.

only michelin N rated in my size where PS2's as the 4's aren't N rated in my size (or weren't last year when I changed them).

Funnily enough, as I was driving yesterday I was thinking to myself, wow this goes well for a 2 litre in a big car.  I had a base Macan as a hire last year and didn’t remember it being quite so brisk.  Anyway, turns out it was an ‘S’  I had yesterday. I was (understandably) confused by a complete lack of any badging, it had been de-badged and even the sill kick plates just said Macan.

I agree with you, for the cost up shift the S seems like a no brainier, unless there are tax implications I’m not aware of.  As for MPG,  I averaged 26 in the 70 miles I did, which was a drive in and out of Stockport town centre, 20 miles on a motorway, and a bit of a spirited play back on country roads, you could comfortably get it down to 20 with a heavy right foot.   I don’t think it seemed appreciably worse mpg wise than the Base model I had last year which I averaged a similar figure on around the same mileage but in and out of Sheffield.  Longer term owners should be able to give more accurate feedback though.

was talking to the OPC about the 2 litre mid last year and was steered off it - under powered - but there to serve a particular market need. If you want to drive it then the S is really the entry point. That said they do sell plenty of the 2 litres - presume as school busses and mums taxis - for which it would be ideal. But if you want a decent drive then the S is where you want to look.

    Locked and loaded!

    Macan GTS
    Night Blue Metallic
    20” Turbo Alloys
Black Leather package (not alcantara, and Mojave didn’t do it for us after looking at a Cayenne at OPC Glasgow)
    Pano Roof
    Sport Chrono
    75lt tank
    drivers memory pack
    heatable windscreen
heated steering wheel (front seat heating is std)
    Privacy Glass
    park assist with reversing camera

    Whoop!

very similar to my GTS - you'll love it I promise!

winter wheel set not a bad idea - easy to add later on if you plan to use it all year - mine went on last week.

    75ltr tank definitely required

I have 21 inch summer wheels on mine which feel really firm on the road (good!) and having just added winter 19's I can feel it roll and squish a *lot* more than those. 20's should be fine though.

memory seats i don't really care about much but have them

    pano roof great

black leather a very practical choice - alcantara seats I hate and don't have.

didn't get mine new so didn't spec a heated windscreen, but would have that if I'd bought new.

sport chrono helps come sale time but to date I've not used it on mine - it's plenty good without using that - sport mode is fine for B roads without the sport plus.

privacy glass on mine too - always thought it was a bit 'gangster' but most cars seem to have it these days and helps the back seat passengers (dogs 🙂 in strong sun.

lets see some pics when you get it - really easy car to live with, practical and great to drive - you'll love it

Interesting to know about that stuff in case my recent fix doesn't last - i just removed the torx screw and moved the elastic to the next slot.

my old elastic had no twang left in it so wouldn't have helped in my case - so decided to replace with something stretchy

  7. back on topic(ish) a moment - noticed my roof was slipping outside the B pillar last week - well known problem with the internal elastic letting go - so set about fixing it.

I've seen the various fixes using staples - which I tried and that just didn't feel right somehow, and they pulled out after a few days anyway.

so I  ordered some new elastic from amazon - this stuff

    Sold by: Wedding Decor UK

perfect stuff with button holes down the middle so attaches over the torx bolt at the back - and dead cheap

so unpicked the old dead elastic, and stitched in this new stuff - took about 15 minutes a side - and much better than leaving old elastic in and stapling in the new stuff (to me anyway feels better)

was a doddle, and should last ages, and is adjustable with a torx key as original. chuffed 🙂

So true this, porsche are not cheap cars to run but I simply love mine and the community etc, I'd hate to not own one.

    This ^^^ +1

got bitten by the bug over 20 years ago and still putting up with the bills - own three of them now - how mad is that!

but there must be a reason I keep doing it.

  9. P.s. Don't lose faith - you're nearly there - stick with it!

not sure if you've tried to run it yet - but don't forget to check oil & coolant levels everywhere  before you try to turn it over.

(and stick the bill on the parents - they deserve it!)

  10. replaced one of mine about 6 months back - nightmare job - so let the dealer sort it after I gave up - and it's now perfect.

you can get the replacement part from design911 or elsewhere for a reasonable cost, but very fiddly to handle and fit. the part itself is in two pieces clipped together which get fitted as one. fiddly screws and clips everywhere.

and just for fun, the part is made from that swirly recycled coffee cup type plastic that breaks as soon as you look at it.
