  1. Not all OPCs know how to activate the auto wipers.  I managed to find some instructions on the ‘net to give to my local OPC after they’d failed the first time to set up the auto wipe.  The instructions worked but triggered a warning on the PIWIS suggesting my rear view camera needed realigning.  It didn’t.

if anyone wants to send me a direct message I’ll dig out the instructions and send them privately

  2. I’ve a 718 Spyder and drive it as much as possible. Care over speed humps and it’s fine.  Only issue is access to rear boot if the roof is up.

I’d get on and go for it.  Mine’s a keeper and I can’t see me changing it for anything.

981 has the unfiltered exhaust so nice noise!

There’s a very active WhatsApp Spyder group (Craig’s Spyder Club) - they’ve just been raving about 981s on it today.

  3. My 2013 Boxster has the problem of headlights crazing and then clear coat lacquer peeling off to leave a matt opaque headlight unit. It looks awful but I suspect worse - it’s now impeding the headlight beam.

Anyone had this?  Anyone solved it?  Advice/solutions needed please. Thanks for your help!26BB25D2-BE62-4E2A-A9B2-CFF991527311.jpeg.20050a45a6ce0c4fbd5d08d210b51c0c.jpeg

  4. Hi Steve

one of mine failed not so long ago.  I didn’t notice any difference in the drive dynamics.  Just the pain of having to book a replacement. Mine was under warranty.  As they fail regularly I can’t decide whether to extend warranty or not - if not when they fail just get the fault coded out and change to passive mounts

  5. I have a 718 Spyder and love it.

since getting it I discovered a very active WhatsApp group (‘Craigs Spyder Club’) - it has a lot of members owning a significant number of the Spyders in the U.K.

Look on YouTube for the annual outing last year at Brooklands.

This year the big day out takes place next month.

The guys with 987s love them. There’s a pro-driver (ex-Formula 1 driver) who drives a 987 and absolutely loves it.

if you get one it’s a pretty exclusive machine that gets high praise.  You have to be able to enjoy the manual nature of the roof though! 🤣

    I won’t be selling my 718 for a very long time.  😀

I don't want to break forum rules.  I'm a long time lurker but only posted a handful of times.  I tend to be a learner and don't feel I have too much to contribute!  I'm removing my Dunlop Maxx Race 2s from my 718 Spyder - they're too track focussed for me, twitching too much in the cold and damp!

I thought someone might be interested in a decent set of tyres for the track.  I've done less than 5000 cautious miles (mostly motorway) in my 718 Spyder.

    Rear x2 295/30/R20 dot 2920  collected from CV47
    Front x2 245/35/R20 dot 2920 collected from CV47

I won't put a price on as I don't want to frustrate the moderators but just wondered if there's a way of posting a for sale notice on the forum.  I've put them up on 911uk if anyone dips into that.

    thanks

    Paul

£150 per set collected or £250 for all four.

Fantastic looking car, please keep us all posted with your thoughts as you get the miles in would love to know more from an owner.....must try not to be tempted!!

    Again, thanks for the comments.

Now at 1200m and still loving every drive.

One issue I’m experiencing is an enormous amount of condensation internally now the nights are getting colder.  This morning I had to have the blower on full and also get the microfibre towels out to clean the inside of the windscreen and door windows.  This is my 11th convertible over the years and I can’t remember such condensation with any of the others.  I’ll keep an eye on it and drive it on full interior heat with aircon on to try and dry it.

  9. … & caught up in Spyder world!

picked this up recently.  Only had 500 miles on it when I first saw it.  Now at 900m so still being run in.  Loving it even though I have to keep it below 4000 revs for a bit longer.  Gentian blue, 18 way seats, bendy headlights

Every time I’ve been in it there’s a smile on my face but it’s been very hard not to go above 4000 rpm

still getting used to the roof.  Out today.  On the way home we left the roof up.  Glad we did despite a dry forecast it poured down.

  10. Last winter I had the frozen window problem on my 981 Boxster and 997 coupe (no top door frame so window freezes to rubber).  I forced it with window fully up.  Then had to drive to work with door not closing properly because window wouldn’t drop!  Next morning the easiest way I found to defrost and get everything working properly was to gently warm with a hairdryer (used it around top of window, handle/lock and bits of door).  All was good after that.

For what it's worth, I prefer the car in the second photo; looks a warmer colour. BUT, that may be purely a factor of the photography and it really has to be your choice.

I agree car no 2 looks the nicer colour but you can’t really judge it from the photos. I’m a photographer and I have to say Official Porsche dealership pictures are pretty rubbish. Never seem to show cars off to their best and too low a resolution.

  12. I went to view a full red interior (exterior white) to see if I could live with it.  I tend to like things a little different and thought I could live with it... on viewing, I couldn’t, it was just too garish for me.

car sold shortly after so in current market conditions (how long will they last?!) I don’t think selling on would be too much of a problem.
