  1. As a followup I put a bluetooth battery monitor (BM2) on, they are pretty useful and battery was fine. WD40 on the hinge and no more spoiler warnings 😇  well just had the 1 warning

As the spoiler goes up at 75mph, I wonder if that's evidence for the plod to give you a speeding ticket.😁

Now that would be a spoiler - dah dah!

Or require the police intelligence division!

Not sure but got to be worth checking your drains Chuckie just to be sure, check out my maintenance videos and check the water is flushing through.

    Is the battery ok?

I read somewhere that the rear spoiler has its own drains? as opposed to the roof rear drains on the boxster? mine's a Cayman so thought I wouldn't need to worry about rear  drains...

Is the spoiler sensor/motor/controller sensitive to low battery?

The spoiler error occurred 90 mins into our trip, wouldn't the battery be in a better state rather than after a cold start? As it happens... the Battery Monitor II, BM2 arrived today. Straight away it says the battery is low power/12.4v (all in red). It's the original battery and 6 yrs old. Although would have thought a good 3 hr drive yesterday would have re-charged the battery?

Useful links on changing the battery yourself? don't want to face having everything re-programmed...

  4. +1 on the great video

Have been contemplating this upgrade, love Waze. Adding the extension board I’m all good with, it’s locating the external box which looks a royal PITA... 🤔 probs leave it for now.

Had not appreciated the PCM 3.1 relies on spinning lumps of rusty discs... would be worth swapping over to SSD at the same time. Be a nice little upgrade market for some one - swap out HDD and stick in Apple CarPlay.

  5. On our trip to Yorkshire, cutting through the A43 from M40 to M1, the Cayman was singing in tune until we hit the M1 restricted speed. A warning message popped up saying “Spoiler failure” and to stay below 70mph... Thinking the worst pulled into Watford Gap services. Releaved to see spoiler still there... the manual button was working and I raised and lowered it just fine, cycled it through a few times and then went for a coffee to google the error.

Continued our journey and returned today and all fine, no more spoiler errors, and could see the spoiler go up at 75mph and down at 50.

What could cause this error? worth investigating? have a month left on the warranty.

Google suggested checking carpet for wetness under the passenger seat  - dry as a bone.
    any thing else to check?

If you are already under the Indy umbrella, I'd stick that money away. By the time you pay the check, warranty, service, any bits needing replaced under the check you could easily be around 3k.

I got 3 months warranty with a month left to go. Seems a waste of 3k to get it back in the system. 3rd party warranty’s I’m not a big fan.
I guess bank the outlay and keep fingers crossed 🤞

  7. Didn't realise that, the 40K & 60K service was done at the Indie (Ash***d's), no idea if brake pads/discs are OEM - is that easy to check without taking wheels off? Likewise Sparks were done at 40K, again not sure what type. Battery is original.

Sounds like I'd need a Major (40K) service and replace any non-OEM brakes/sparks. Hmh probably doesn't make sense?

  8. My indie 3 month warranty expires next month, contemplating getting a Porsche 2yr warranty on my  981 2.7 PDK with 60k miles, MY 2015.

The 981's seem pretty robust? Has anyone had claims, particularly wear/age related outside of water damage?

Reading OPC have quoted £279 for the 111 point check and then £1270 for 2 years.

Worth it? I think peace of mind definitely... wondered what everyone else has done, or just bank the money and hope for the best?

  9. The sound quality using my iPhone 8 with the PCM 3.1 with software version 4.75 with Bose is pretty dreadful, think the mic is fine but just the audible quality not great. Everything else Bluetooth wise seems fine, it connects straight away and has all my contacts etc. Any ideas?

I read somewhere that the 4.76 has better BT, would that improve the sound quality? And if so how to upgrade? Or maybe something else?

  10. Great video, lighting definitely improved from standard.

My question, I already have Bi-Xenon PDSL on my Cayman base, the manual suggests the Xenon's are 55W? your video mentions 35W? presumably PDSL is 55W? anyway of telling short of pulling the bulb out?
