They probably leave the car during the day to look for food.  I would start with sorting out your garage, look for any signs or places where they can get in. They can fit through a hole as big as a 10p

The 10p is for a Rat to be able to gain access. If you can put a bic biro through a hole there is a fair chance a mouse can get in. Basically for both pests, if the can get their head in they can squeeze their body through!! Both pests leave scent trails that their mates can follow hence why you still get them after you have caught one. It takes months for this to dissipate. Jeyes fluid is v good for disguising the scent, although I wouldn't suggest this in the car. Spearmint Essent discourages rats so may work on mice. By the way mice can get sustenance from eating the plastic from the wiring loom so don't have too leave the car! Do what you can to discourage them asap.

  2. Had this happen to me on a Golf GTI a few years back. Standard filament bulbs, turned the lights on when I was on the motorway the dipped side never came on. 100 miles from home so had to turn the head light adjusters down and finish the journey on main beam lights. Both bulbs had blown, replaced them and never had another problem with them again. No idea as to why they went together!

  3. My 2003 986 goes into sleep mode if left for a week. This means that the fob will not power any functions. I then have to put the key into the drivers lock, turn it to the front and then to the back. Remove the key and the fob functions are re-energised and work as before. Hopefully your door lock still allows this and you can open the  doors as before! Good luck

  4. Just make sure when you bend it you are flexing it away all around it as there can be a tendancy to push away the top, that may be catching and hence push the bottom closer making that now catch as you are only talking 1 or 2mm deflection to make it rub. Been there done that.

  5. Driving home last saturday. Turned the lights on and the dipped beam litronics where lighting up the trees and disturbing the roosting birds. This created an eventful journey home blinding fellow motorists. Sorry if you were on the A40 last saturday. Checked in to this site the next day and discovered that the Litronics auto leveling were controlled from a switch on the suspension wish bone. Went investigating and sure enough the connecting rod from the wish bone to the switch was broken. One ball was seized solid. I had the car serviced two days previous and I suspect that when they put the car up on the hoist the suspension will have gone to its full extent. The ball on the connecting rod will have seized at this point so when the car was returned to the ground it  sheared it off. Hence my problem. One new connecting rod and 10 minutes with the spanners and copper grease ( it will be easier to undo next time!) job done. New one is radically improved, either it is for multi use or there has been problems before. Lights back to normal. Pictures attached for those interested.
