Think it needs individual memory settings to be available (courtesy of Sports Chrono?) under options on the PCM.

IIRC it's also doable with a PIWIS as a "comfort setting"

many thanks, it'll have to piwis then as I've no sports chrono.....Cheers....

  2. Hi all, just realised that since having the pcm3 installed, my car has lost the auto locking of doors when driving off.....Is there a setting that allows this? or does it have to be programmed? Searched on a few forums, one saying ignition almost on, go into psm set and look for the function, have done this, and it's showing nothing other then units, date time etc....

    Any thoughts? Many thanks, M

  3. Long shot, but going to ask anyway......The Boxster is having a machine polish and ceramic coating applied on Monday and with the work going in, considering removing the rear text and going plain 'PORSCHE'. Done a quick search and it appears that the text badge from our local dealer doesn't come with a template. Has anyone made one that could be mailed over for me to print off so i can give it to my detailer for fitting?...

    Many thanks, Mark.

  4. Yeh mines an 09 7.2, and the pcm came from a 2010 car. No change to anything at all dash wise. All i had added was a gps unit for functionality for the nav pcm and a mic for when using CarPlay / siri etc.

My pcm was basic, although had Bose and Bluetooth, so i used to stream via a twelve south air fly unit which was great, but obviously you had to keep it charged. I not keen on aftermarket head units as i wanted original look and to be honest, if the pcm hadn't been going that cheap, maybe i'd not ventured down the route I have. That said, I'm more then happy with what I've ended up with, no loss or functionality at all.....

  5. I'd been wishing to upgrade my PCM2 for quote some time but wanted to keep originality. I'd purchase a PCM3 quite some time ago that ended up being stolen by the couriers, thankfully insured but got my money back. Found  chap on eBay recently who upgraded his head unit for an aftermarket and sold me his pristine PCM for £150, with me knowing it was going to cost a few bob to get it updated and coded to work in my car....All done, total success thanks to Nick and NMAutomotive in Guernsey, coded and with apple car play installed too with no issues whosoever.....https://www.flickr.com/photos/193260872@N02

I my opinion, well worth the money spent.

  6. Almost makes me want to put my 09 plate up for sale, trying to decide if i should be going back to a 911 or not, knowing how much I've spent on getting this car spot on only to potentially go through it all over again....bloody cars.....who'd have em.....

  7. A tad lucky this morning, I knew I was paying way over the odds for the minor roof repair (new arms) and on being told inner membrane had split because of arm, I'd decided to get done outside of Porsche to save on hourly rates. I was told the car was ready and went to collect this morning to be handed a bill of £1600 replacing all the parts....almost a seizure, then produced my email to them saying please do not proceed with ancillary works, arms only.....They waived the costs of extra works and parts (£1000) and admitted it was an issue their end, phew. Still, replacement arms and labour £600.....ouch. Still, costly as it has been, a warrantied fix on the roof, happy again even though poorer for it......

  8. ok, so the roof can be fixed not replaced, but with labour £1600, this is because the inner roof liner has been nicked and they cannot guarantee stopping the ingress of water, so roof off for repair.

Re the straightforward elastic issue and alignment, CE Moore (coach trimmers and cabrio specialists) £200, used them in t past re another car I had and they were superb...think I know where I'll be going after the snapped plastic pieces and arms are replaced....no wonder why so many people come out of OPC works....

  9. Gotta love Porsche dealer for trying....in for the roof fix and I've had link back showing snapped plastic ends and also where it had snapped and a small arm they have suggested be placed as the fixing thread has been damaged along with a tear in the rear membrane suggesting a leak could happen. I've asked to prepare quote...I'd mentioned the elastic issue where the roof every now and again sits outside the roof rail (my attempts of fixing have clearly failed over time, although I know it's an easy fix....Porsche comment, would need new roof...hahahahaha......gotta love em for trying....

Lets see what tomorrows quote brings.....All the best, M

Oh i forgot, they also mentioned numerous times my tyres were not N rated? So...whats that got to do with my roof?....and what's wrong with mich ps4's, great tyres....

  10. Heh guys, hope you're all having a better weekend than I. Took time out, cleaned and polished the car and thought a nice drive out was called for whilst the sun shone.....Roof off...and as it lowered into its final position, a horrible 'snap' sound. Got to our short destination, roof would not close and the shell was juddering whilst trying to close with no success. Back home, I managed to open the metal cover fine but the roof did not budge, thankfully easy to manually drag the roof into its closed position and before locking, slight help by manhandling the roof cover back into it's closed position before locking the roof.

SO.....would any of you be able to offer any guidance on what may have happened, is it something that unfortunately may have happened with age (it's 09 and very well looked after) and have never had any issues with the roof at all (apart from elastic hack bringing back to the channel). Am I looking at something quite serious? dealer or Inde fix? Hope someone may be able to shed some light....feeling rather gutted, afternoon out now off the cards....unless its with roof up.....Thanks for any comments, cheers, M

2 well respected local guys ( one of which is the goto for the local OPC - he often collects new cars pre customer delivery and does the full correction/ceramic coating etc.) both quoted me about 1K - which included all the cleaning, the correction, the ceramic coating, roof clean and treatment, and even repainting the brake disk "top hats" and replacing the factory stone chip protection plastic on the wheel arches. They wanted the car for a week.

I haven't gone for it as yet - not sure if I want that level of work done (and not sure I want the ceramic coating etc) - so I am now looking at DIY for polishing but still undecided.

Paul, Chap over the road from me does detailing, but not silly silly numbers, he does mine once-twice per year at a cost of £80, has the car for around 4-5 hours dependant on how much work needed. Results are brilliant, he also does travel. Done my wife's Merc, car had never looked so blue, not even when it left the merc showroom....happy to pass on his number if you wish...Cheers, best wishes for 22, M

  12. Mines a 987S II.....had a majorly high quote from a company to do the works and know where there marks ups are....but watch this space.....I'm hoping a certain forum member may be in the know......

Fingers crossed for me please.....Cheers, M

  13. Hi, trust this finds all well. Quick question If I may, the basic head unit in my 09 Boxster 987II is beginning to fade graphics wise. I'd rather keep OEM look and i've found a chap selling his pcm3 for a reasonable cost.

My car has bose and bluetooth, but with no sat nav, dated as it is, i'd prefer to have the PCM 3 with sat nav as he's selling. I've read I'd need special codes from porsche to make this head unit work anyone have any special knowledge of this? in knowing, can this swap be achieved at a reasonable amount of money, or is it too cost prohibitive.....

aftermarket is easily achieved I know, but for the amount I use the car, happy to stream bluetooth for music etc, waze too from my phone when needed.

thanks for any input, cheers, M
