  1. Hi Berni,

This is the post I was referring to

There is a Tiptronic CPU in the rear boot, behind the upright bulkhead ( well there is on a 987 - you may have to check ). Unplugging it for ten minutes and then rebooting ( by reconnection ) worked for me. Clearly anecdotal but c.£600 for a new replacement.

Mine is a 2003 2.7. The box is as the guy said in the rear boot, right in the middle (mine has Bosch 986 on it) and is easy to remove and replace.

Hope one of these cheap fixes may solve your problem

  2. I had exactly the same lights a couple of months ago with the car in 'limp home' mode. Just clearing the code fixed it. As others have said code reader identified the multi-function switch on the side of the gearbox, apparently sometimes a drop in voltage can cause it to cut out and simply clearing the coded fixed it for me. I will buy a code reader to reset and keep it in the car. Other thought is there is a tiptronic control box in the boot, pull the cover forward and it is just to left of center about 6" x 4" someone I think on here if you have a look had the same problem and he fixed his by removing this box from the car waiting 20 minutes and replacing it. That didn't work for me but for the time it takes perhaps worth a try. Good luck
