  1. I Fixed the headlights...

The (HID) headlights on my 2004 Boxster S stopped working, so a quick scan of the emanuel confirmed that only the switch was common, and a quick scan of tinternet confirmed that the switch can be a bit suspect. Plenty of online videos about replacing it but one said that the (hollow) shaft went right into the switch that that squirting in some cleaner/light lube and roddling it about a bit might fix it. So I removed the switch, squirted it, and roddled it for a few minutes and - lo and behold - it now works. Only regret is that I took it out completely which wasn't necessary...

So in summary:  If yours headlights stop working (both of them) try removing the knob, squirt maintenance spray down the hollow shaft (be careful of overspray, blowback and dribbles) and roddle it back and forth for a while. Mine took a good five minutes of vigorous roddling to get it working.

Although it's not due for a while, I'm taking mine (which Ihave owned for 1 week) for an MoT tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's ok, but after reading yours.... :(

Is the indy going to fix it or will you do your own?

Mine passed, with advisory on number plate light and anti roll bar link rubber. All pipes and underside of the car was virtually corrosion free, apart from the exhaust. The garage owner left it up on the lift so that I could have a proper look underneath, and it was GOOD! (apart from the exhausts)

Next job will be replacing the clamps and clamp bolts on said exhaust before they fall off. How can it be so clean everywhere else while the exhaust bolts are almost gone?

took mine for MOT at the indy, first since I purchased. Failed on front discs and pads, central brake line corrosion, broken coil spring and track rod end OSF plus many advisories. It's going to be a big bill!

  4. I did the Crios Mod (on a 2004 Boxster S)

It was remarkably easy - I used a 14mm square section steel bar sharpened to an asymmetric point and I didn't even have to hit it that hard - and now I have a nice square bypass hole in each of the outlet pipes.

If you are thinking of doing this - go ahead! It's amazing. The car used to sound (to my ears) very tame - like a normal saloon (until the induction howl sets in), but now it sounds (again, to my ears) absolutely fabulous. It sounds like a sports car should but is not too loud. It's the Goldilocks of exhaust notes. And it didn't cost me a penny.

I am one very happy bunny :)
