After some heavy rain recently I've noticed the bottom of the driver door was wet. Upon removing the door card it was fairly obvious why as some weapon had almost completely removed the membrane. I ordered a membrane from porsche chester for £60 which was surprising in stock. A fairly straightforward job until I disconnected the battery to remove the door airbag then closed the frunk. 30 minutes to do the door membrane. 4 hours to open the frunk. Amazing

Finally got around to replacing the heating ducts and trim after fitting the new clutch servo spring which took far longer than fitting the spring itself but glad to have it back in one piece for now at least

No but the gearbox oil is my next job as it's done 120k with no evidence of it ever being done, maybe i could get the mounts inspected/replaced at the same time. I did have some on order with the spring from a well known parts specialist but was let down by them so ended up buying from opc and it was £30 cheaper so who knew. I'm going to get it on the classic register first then i'll order some oil from opc with the 15% discount

Picked up and installed the clutch booster spring today and not suprisingly the clutch pedal and shifting has been transformed. I'd still describe it as on the heavy side of normal compared with more modern stuff and the real test will be going from 1st to 2nd when cold so time will tell but I'm just glad I didn't rush into a £1200 clutch replacement so thanks to everyone who contributes on here the info so far is saving me a fortune

apologies for the slow reply but yes pretty easy but like many have said use a 5mm socket not the rubbish porsche tool to release the lights and if you have headlight washer jets be careful not to damage the lights as you pull them over the washer jet

the job is hold for the time being as i discovered the clutch pedal booster spring was broken at the weekend so I'm hoping a new one will solve the heavy clutch pedal issue but i'll keep you posted when it arrives but would be a major bonus for the budget as the suspension is doing a fair bit of creaking also

Oh. I bet he was happy. I removed the clutch assist spring from the pedal which was broke into 3 pieces so I'm hoping a new one and some fresh gearbox oil will do the trick

Got the car back from paint last week and very happy with the results, the only downside is the paint guy has lost one of the crew covers from the scuttle panel which I've now replaced but it stood out like a sore thump so tonight I've treated the scuttle panel with owatrol so it all blends in a treat and looks like new. The only problem now is I'll have to carry on and do the rest of the plastic bits which now look horrible by comparison.

Thanks for the advice 986T8 i'll definately get it checked before going ahead, assuming garages will tell you the truth as I don't have the facilities to do it myself.

Totally with you Winster I have a business to run and a four year old and we're in between houses so I don't even have anywhere to keep it or work on it but who cares you're here for a good time not a long time and if the cr*p hits the fan you can always flog it. When the suns shining and the hoods down it all makes sense.

possibly, I'll probably just settle for re polishing them every couple of years. I have to sell a kydney next for the clutch though which I had budgeted for when buying the car but I never considered the flywheel which most people are recommending too

the one thing I would say is that when I applied the lacquer they actually got worse although the weather didnt do me any favours as they are supposed to go in the sun and the minute I applied it it rained so I'm sure if it was down to this or the lacquer itself but I ended up wiping it off as it still hadnt hone off after 24 hours, polishing them again and this time I just applied car wax which I'm hoping will fend off the UV

I ordered a new front number plate holder as noticed mine was broke so to make use of the P&P costs I also ordered a new LCD screen for the air con as some of the pixels are missing. Was a doddle to fit and looks loads better. The number plate I'll do next week as its going in for paint on Monday Replaced a few bulbs as well, just ticking the jobs off steadily, new clutch will be the first biggie

for the lights i used a polishing kit from ebay which came with a pad which i fitted to a cordless drill on low speed. The roof was good old blood sweat and tears witha scrubbing brush and some soft top cleaner again from ebay followed by a coat of fabsil when dry and I'm very pleased with the results of both jobs

I recently bought a 2003 3.2S which needs some TLC. Polished the light today which were very faded using a 10 quid kit from Ebay. Results are amazing even though I got caught out by a shower when the sealer was still soft but still a massive improvement for the money.
Also cleaned the roof for the third time and it turns out its blue not black!

Soft top clean
Just bought a 2003 boxster s. Thought the roof was black until I cleaned it. Now im thinking. Meyropole blue. Big improvement but needs doing again before the proofer goes on. First time it's been done since new I reckon.

Door membrane seems to have been a success and have also replaced the gas struts on the front and rear boot/frunk as they kept blowing shut in the wind
MOT is due this month so we'll see what that throws up
