Hi
I used cheap LED versions from Amazon to replace mine and in all fairness, they have been better than the originals (and at £15 for a set of two, far cheaper to replace!)
Shared album - Leo Meakin - Google Photos
I had to make a bracket but for that I just chopped down a few angle brackets. I also opted to fit the correct connectors so as to make it reversible. The connectors were generic so I just bought cheap chinese ones.
The sidelights are the outer rings and the fog lights are the inner bit
Thanks I,ve found some Ali express ones which I think will work 👍

Has anyone found a suitable replacement for damaged foglights that don't cost a fortune? Can't even find decent second hand ones.
-
Looks a decent car and it's had the coolant pipes changed which many owners avoid. Definitely worth a look and the 2.7 is pretty much bombproof if looked after properly.

We,ve just done one of these at work and it sounds like your roof hasn't been adjusted quite right. When the motor runs for a few seconds after the latch is closed it pulls the rear clamshell down flush with the body ( at least it does with the one we have at work).

Think I remember hearing the solution to this is to adjust the bump rubbers on the rear hatch to make sure it absolutely can't move.
Just done this on mine as I had windnoise above 40mph. Adjusted the rubbers and all gone.

I ended up fitting a pipercross filter and trying the baffle removal. The car definitely felt better but with the baffle removed I noticed the mpg going down.

You’re going to bolt a 987 onto a 718 spoiler ? 😉
Found a cheap 718 ducktail which I was hoping would fit.👍

At the widest point along the top 106 cms.
Thanks 👍👍👍

Could anyone with a 718 measure the width of the rear spoiler please, I have an idea but need some measurements 👍

I am booked in with the garage in question for a Saturday free inspection, I also need alignment sorting as the steering is a little off centre and pulls to the right which Angus said he could sort. I suppose the inspection will find out if I bought a good car or not!
Nice one, hopefully we don't find anything too bad 👍

I'm in Shefford so not far from Stevenage, can you let me know garage details as well. Perhaps we need a Hertfordshire Bedfordshire meet up at some point, possibly Shuttleworth now they have opened up the free parking and cafe again.
Cheers
Messaged 👍

Sure am! Could do with a recommendation for sure. My last Boxster was owned during the pandemic, and I didn't have a chance to go on any runs out with it. If you know of any give me a shout!
Messaged you 👍

Road trip report. The trains were all buggered with engineering works, so we put the naff electric Chinese car to work. Comfy though.
We set out to view the artic silver? 2007 no options car with 73k for an initial negotiated £11,500 but needed new tyres. I wanted to haggle further when I got there, only half an hour away.
Just as we set off the atlas grey 2007 2.7 owner messaged me back saying he would drop his price to £11k from £12k. He also mentioned being a grandad, and had done 100 miles since January in the car. This car had an appalling advert, he responded to emails with one word not answering the questions. Clearly someone who didn't like using his mobile and computer. I had worked out the car had heated seats, sports steering wheel and coloured centre caps. Car had 84k, done 3k in 2 years.
So we swerved the silver car as I really wanted heated seats and set off from Stevenage to Lowestoft, which would have been fine on a normal Saturday but the shed draggers were out in style and lots of roadworks. 4 hours later we arrived.
The vendor said he had one enquiry from someone in Norwich, I suspect the location wasn't the best place to sell a niche vehicle from! Nice house, family all there, he had lost interest and only used it to drive around town.
My purchasing philosophy is to have a quick look at the first car I view, start the engine for ten seconds, pay and drive off 😉
Car was on the drive immaculate and shiny, no need to claybar. A few chips on the front and the screen. I started her up and immediately asked if it had been Carnewalled as it had a proper bark, he said there was a sports mod of some type. Turned out to be Revolution Porsche exhaust upgrade. Also had a spare tyre and a nice car cover. Every receipt for servicing and anything that had been done to the car. Porsche crests in headrests as well as coloured centre caps.
I paid up and went on my merry way. I have never driven a 2.9 so won't know what I am missing. This car sounds awesome at 4-6k and I only potter about in traffic most of the time, and this car was £4k cheaper than the cheapest 2.9. No bore score on the 2.7, well the odd car.
Gearbox felt mushy at first, but I was just changing gears too fast. I fitted an ebay short shifter to my last 987, but this one feels ok probably due to the relatively low mileage.
Steering is off centre, and it tramlines. It might improve when I check the tyre pressures on these 18's. It needs alignment for sure, one of the rears is more worn than the others. It has 2019 Conti N1's on so 4 years old no cracking though, but when giving it the beans cornering you can feel they break away suddenly. My last 987 behaved the same way and Pilot 4's did solve this problem.
The sun came out when I came into town and I did want to put the top down, and then remembered this was a Cayman. And there is a trim rattle in the rear somewhere I need to find. The clutch feels like my 125k 987 a little juddery but nice and strong.
The vendor said he had the funny splitters added himself, not sure about them to be honest and the DRL's look a bit funny to me but I have the fog trims to change back on. I will probably leave it as it is. I really need a private plate to hide the age of the car, and the number plate is waaay bigger than the plinth.
My verdict: Awesome sounding 2.7 that you can wring the neck off without losing your licence, and has heated seats so I will actually use it in the winter. Mind you 6th gear would be nice.
Did I do ok?

Are you in Stevenage? I,ve got an atlas grey 2.7 as well. If you need a decent garage to look after it let me know. They are brilliant cars if looked after properly.

There's a cayman on eBay (225506448717) for 8k, it's a cat car but has been well looked after. It's also on 987 owners UK group on Facebook. Worth a look I think.

Signed up my Cayman today at Porsche Hatfield, you only get one number plate surround now and the pack arrives in around 8 to 10 weeks.

I had a Pipercross in my last car. Definitely sounded more exciting. Time comes I might do another one. IIRC it wasn't expensive and they last forever.
These seem really good value compared to the other makes

Avoid the yellow one in London on Facebook, it's a scam. Poor guy on one of the Facebook groups put a deposit on it and travelled down to view it and was a dog. Seller refused to give money back.

You can use a planted technologies seat mount which lowers the seat very close to the floor

You need to remove the carpet to dry it out properly. Have you checked the rear drains as well?

Apologies for the delay, have been away working. This sounds like the best option, I presume looking at the link posted earlier - https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod142227/Hardtop-catch-Porsche-986-Boxster/ - it will just be a case of removing the two bolts holding the spin lock assembly to the hardtop? I am away from home at the moment but presume you can gain access with the roof in situ?
I think it's easier to unbolt the spinlock from the car (one bolt).

Unbolt the spinlock and just remove the whole lot, then you can see where it's stuck.

Have a Design Tek on my Cayman. They need to be allowed to settle down as they are loud from brand new but after nearly 3 months use mine is now sounding rather good. No drone on the motorway and a nice burble sometimes.
