  1. Exactly that . I just rechecked with DVLA website and once I put my details in it gives me a one off payment price of £180 for the year.. the efficiency speaks for itself.
As I said, the thinking man’s sports car. It’s epic and reasonable to run.
I did a run from Stuttgart to Reims last summer, 308 miles at an average 75mph, touching 130 on the unlimited stretches of autobahn and the car returned 30.9 mpg with the roof off all the way.

  2. My 2017 718 Boxster S 4 pot is my first Porsche. We traded a Z4 for it and can only say after 10,000 miles over the last 18 months that it is one remarkable car…. It is so efficient, fast, user friendly and fun that I couldn’t think of a better car to own for what I want from a sports car.

Road tax costs me £180 a year, two year service intervals, smile inducing, dynamic on the road and realistic residuals. It’s the thinking man’s sports car. My 2017 sounds pretty good BUT part of me wants to drive a 6 cylinder to see what the differences are and I probably will at some stage.

  3. When I did the Porsche Experience Day at Silverstone, I asked Merv the most senior instructor, who took me round, this question. He has driven all models at serious speeds. His answer “ Boxster “ with the Active suspension package. The mid engine is the jewel in the crown .

  4. My 2017 718 heated seats work superbly, no issues. It’s also the first car I’ve had with a heated steering wheel and that is just luxury on a cool morning . Usually turn the seats down to 1 or 2 a few miles after start up as that is more than sufficient for me .

  5. I did the experience as well, what became clear is that the car has more talent than I do. After years of trying to drive smoothly my instructor pushed me to go quicker and use more of everything.. I said I felt guilty for throwing him around as we went quicker and pushed everything, his response “ I get paid for being thrown around , press on..” . A great day. I had the two hour course and that packs a lot in to a small time. Absolutely great value for money. Interestingly I was with Merv and he reckons the best handling car in the range is the Boxster S with PASM option, and he’s driven all of the range over many years…!

  6. Thanks all. Collection hopefully this Friday. It’s coming down from Scotland and we’ve not even seen it yet, so fingers crossed it is all they’ve promised. Buying it via Porsche Centre Silverstone. Trading the Z4 which has gone up nicely since we made the final PCP payment. That gave us some equity to take into the new car. But a big step up in power: 350 from 184…hence I’m going to the Porsche experience in August to see what they are all about. Hopefully the course will include how to avoid speed cameras ….🙄

  7. Ok, I am still new to the Porsche arena, can someone please explain what pre GPF means…..? Thanks.
I am still in the market for a  718 ….. And I think I want an S version. Test drove the standard Boxster and whilst impressed, if your going to go large you may as well go LARGE..

  8. I’ve got a very low final payment. The car is worth more than the cost to pay it off, so I will buy it and use it as a px. Due to various reasons we didn’t do the mileage we anticipated when we took out the PCP so we’ve over paid on the purchase effectively. On speaking to the BMW dealer today he thinks second hand car values have gone up. So I gain on the swings and lose on the roundabouts...!

  9. Evening all. Well I didn’t buy the one I found back in September. Will start looking again now that the second lockdown looks to be on the way out and we will actually  be able to drive it somewhere.... I think that used prices are going up. My PCP on the Z4 ends this month and we have a good bit of equity in it which is great news and makes the purchase easier .  Watch this space !

  10. Thanks Mikeyv60. Yes I realise that we have another couple of years luxtax to pay,  hopefully it looks like a new car but we will have 3 years less luxtax to pay.... .RoddyT , we will have to see what the car has regarding extras and what spec has been purchased. Top advice from all forum members, the info here is valuable when looking to purchase our first Porsche , many thanks.
