Can you remember what sort of cost it was? Got a big service coming up and this is only going to add to the pain😢
Done under warranty so I am not sure, sorry.

Mine had to be replaced.
Same. Replaced over winter. I forget exactly what it was that needed doing but was reasonably major whatever had failed. Alarm was faulty as well and fixed at the same time.

They've now dropped the 2x oil changes from the £99 a month option.
Every time I check the site they make it a worse deal.

I looked at the pricing at the scheme launch and it came back at £1665 and i could have been tempted, but i put my rego in today and it had increased to £2376 or £99/month for 24 months… 😱
that will be a no then 👎
I got an OPC quote for £750 for a 10 yr service, and i will prob do that as car is under OPC warranty, but i will likely go independent Specialist for 12 yr at that cost (might renew the warranty before the 12yr service is due)
The buggers have removed the £69 a month option, that’s why the £99 one is appearing and it looks like a price rise. The £99 includes two oil changes on top of the two services and was always there.
I asked Porsche a question about whether the service pack would transfer to a new owner, wanted to know that before committing. Of course they only came back 12 days after asking and said to ask my local OPC. That wait for nothing and now the good value option is gone 😭
and if I had just read the T&Cs more carefully I’d have had my answer. Didn’t spot this last time.

£750 was from OPC Glasgow
"we would be able to complete this service at the cost of £750.00 Inc. VAT on our reduced labour rate for you.
As a high performance vehicle this includes and Oil & Filter Service, Brake Fluid Change, all drains cleared and cleared & will take approx. 3 hours to complete."
OPC Edinburgh came back with £850
"The 10 year service on your Boxster will consist of oil + filter change, pollen filter, water drain maintenance, drivebelt check and a brake fluid change. The total cost would be £904.76 however due to being a PCGB member I would be happy to do it for £850 Inclusive of VAT"
£760 is what Porsche Belfast charged me for it, no mention of any special cheap labour rates. Quite reasonable seeing as they have a captive market.

Saw the same thread on Pistonheads, and did think it seemed reasonable value for OPC servicing if like me you're running their extended warranty. Quite tempted to go for it as I am more inclined than ever to hold onto the car for longer than I planned.

Assume nothing is my attitude I'm afraid. Borne out of experience. But sounds positive.
I have just had my 2 rear calipers swapped for free by my OPC as they were supposed to have been bled just 3 months prior. My 2016 Cayman with 25,000 mies and 3 invoiced brake fluid changes had seized solid nipples, so clearly never been touche in years.
It's worth poking a spanner or socket through the wheel to make sure the nipples are moveable. No need for a full 'undo', just to make sure they aren't seized. New calipers are £600 + a pop.
Car is back in again for warranty work next week anyway so if something does seem awry when I take a look I can say to then then. Some sort of fault with the alarm system, being covered under warranty.

Make sure the inner rear bleed nipples have not seized and they have actually bled them. The OPC's tend not to bother bleeding the inner rear side of the calipers as they have to remove the rear wheels.
On the invoice for the work it notes
**All 4 wheels removed for access to inner & outer bleeders on Brake Calipers**
So I'd assume all good then?

Service and brake fluid change, and taxed it. Expensive month.

Someone just sent me this link, which seems like a relatively reasonable solution for updating the maps:

Strongly consider this. Just because you have winter tyres, doesn't mean that everyone else has (in fact I suspect it's only car nuts like us who actually know about them), and the chance of someone else sliding into you is greatly increased.
True, fair points. The other car costs little to nothing to keep, and assuming it doesn't die on me, might be the better option when things get slippy.

^^^ This.
I have worked in Scandinavia in winter and having full winter tyres is an amazing difference to standard tyres on snow in particular. In the UK not so much.
We fitted Cross Climate tyres (all season not pure winter) to MRS ½cwt's Gold cabrio. So far they have only made a key difference on one day of snow in two winters. That said on very cold greasy/frosty days they do give a bit more grip too, but you'd be unlikely to take a Boxster out in those conditions.
If you do want a set of tyres that are better in cold/damp/greasy weather then all season tyres on a spare set of rims for the winter might be the better option, and bite the bullet on cost. I have fitted 18" rims on my 986 but I have the original 17" too and this is what I am considering but it is a challenge to get the sizes for this older car. I appreciate the bigger rim size tyres are even more costly than teh ones I'm looking at.
I did plan to daily it, winter and summer.
I still have my bangernomics spare car fitted with winter tyres so arguably, assuming I still have it come the time when such tyres would be needed, I could use it and would be better off using it if there was snowy/slushy conditions about.

Wide berth. 8 years old before you are even using them and manufacturers typically recommend replacing tyres around 7 years old.
That is what I was leaning towards.
These look better, N rated to keep OPC warranty happy and I think from some image editing the dot date is a lot newer. Just not overly handy location wise *COLLECTION ONLY* 19” PORSCHE WINTER TYRES/ALLOYS (Fit Cayman/Boxster) | in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire | Gumtree

£300 would get you one N rated corner fitted. Doesn't go far.
3 hours ago, Patt said:Winter tyres seem to last ages, well past what you would normally expect.
I think mine are 2012 and the rears are only just getting to a stage where I would consider replacing them as the depth is getting down to about 4.5mm
Stored in the shed away from any sunlight and only used for 4-5 months of the year. No cracking or any such worries.
I think the winters on my old 986 were 3rd hand and a similar age too.
Very much dependent on how they're stored I guess and that's the unknown when buying a used set privately.

Mulling over winter tyres. Found a set for a not unreasonable price (shipping shouldn't be too bad) but tyre age not in their favour. From the middle of 2014 and might be a bit on the old side.

It is.
I'd suggest check your PCM firmware version re the zoom bug Richard mention for 3xx firmware PCM 3.1 units.
If it's 3xx I'd avoid this for now.
Pressing the source and info buttons together will tell you the firmware version.
Cheers for the heads up. On 3.42 so I’ll avoid updating.

Where did you pick it up?

Alas sold this morning, had been trying to get a PPI arranged yesterday before committing to a deposit on it. Disappointing but not surprised it went so quickly. The downside to being in Northern Ireland and having to arrange things remotely.
PSE has eventually arrived

any obvious signs of that being the case? My exhaust has developed a much deeper, rough tone of late at low revs. Still sounds fine above 5k but in normal, round town driving it’s a bit… gruff.
